Abstract

Complex partial epileptic seizures manifested with auditory hallucinations are uncommon in the general practice, for which reason their diagnosis is often erroneous, in this case a 52-year-old female patient who presents recurrent episodes approximately in the last 18 months of auditory hallucinations characterized by listening to "human voices that speak of her but does not remember what they say" last a few seconds and after them presents a sense of unexplained anguish, was treated by psychiatry with multiple drugs without obtaining good evolution of their symptoms , worsening clinical picture with tanatonic ideas, goes to consultation neurology where presumptively is diagnosed epilepsy, treatment with carbamazepine is established and after its administration patient reports loss of described symptoms without having adverse effects.
