Descripción : The objective of the present investigation was to determine the impact of the Ecuadorian tax system on micro-enterprises in the province of Tungurahua; since, microenterprises as such constitute an important source of employment and contribution to the country's economy. From this, the methodology used is given by a quantitative approach because the study was based on the collection of numerical data from official sources such as the Internal Revenue Service (SRI) and the Superintendence of Securities and Insurance Companies the same which were processed in their entirety and are described throughout this document. On the other hand, it was also necessary to develop a bibliographic study, which allowed to gather theoretical information to support the variables under study (tax system and microenterprises). As far as the scope of research is concerned, the study is framed on an exploratory level; given that, it takes as a starting point the components and relationships that interact between the different tax elements of microenterprises and explanatory because it transcends the description of concepts, variables or phenomena, to respond for the cause or causes of the events raised. From this, and as the main findings, it was possible to determine that in the different periods different laws were passed that promoted the development of microenterprises in order to promote entrepreneurship and seek new alternatives for the economic development of the country. However, despite these initiatives and by way of conclusion it can be stated that the impact of the Ecuadorian tax system on micro-enterprises in the province of Tungurahua presents a negative scenario, taking as reference the information provided by the Internal Revenue Service, which reliably shows a decrease in microenterprises in the province. Although the microenterprise trend was increasing during the 2012-2015 period, the subsequent years (2016 and 2017 respectively) show a decrease in the total number of microenterprises in Tungurahua.
