Descripción : | The quality of the environment has become a necessary good and an indicator of economic growth that is increasingly in demand worldwide. For this reason, this study is developed that analyzes the behavior of the variables environmental impact and economic growth over time, detailing quantitative and qualitative aspects through statistical tools to confirm the existence of the Environmental Kuznets curve for Ecuador, which determines whether the country develops based on its pollution, determines the relationship between CO2 emissions per capita and the gross national income (GNI) per capita through the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) model. In the study, the variables show a growing trend over the years and the relationship they show is negative. It is concluded that the Kuznets curve is not present in the Ecuadorian economy. The OLS model is adequate to explain the behavior and the relationship between both variables. |
