Violencia digital en parejas jóvenes

Abstract

Digital violence in young couples is defined as the use of information and communication technologies, such as social networks, email, instant messaging and other online platforms, to control, threaten, harass, cause problems or any form of psychological and emotional abuse in a relationship. It involves the manipulation and exploitation of technology with the intent to harm the mental, emotional and social well-being of victims, and can have adverse effects both at the individual level and between individuals. The objective of the research is to analyze digital violence in young couples in the city of Ambato, the study is of mixed character with quantitative work with 384 young people of the canton comprised in the age range of 18 to 29 years and qualitative with 10 key informants who have experienced digital violence in their love relationships. The level of research used was descriptive, with its analyticalsynthetic, deductive and inductive method. The instrument used was the Scale of cyber-violence in adolescent couples (Cib-VPA) created by Cava and Buelga in 2018, which is composed with two subscales based on cyberbullying perpetrated with 10 items and cyber-victimization also with 10 items, in addition the in-depth interview was used with six questions which covered the dimensions that encompass digital violence in order to collect the experiences of people who have assaulted or were victims of this problem. The results obtained showed the existence of digital violence in young couples in the city, scoring them with a mild level in cyber-aggression and cyber-control. As for the systematized accounts exposed how this type of violence is normalized in current relationships, in addition to the fact that the dynamics in couples when using social networks consist of controlling each other's activities when being connected, insults and sexting
