Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2018) Balladares Pico, José Luis; Acosta Lozada, Rodrigo IvánThe present experimental project has as objective, evaluating the efficiency of the orange shell like filtering material, for an effluent that pours the Jeans Washer "Fashion." The study was carried out during 20 days in which two samples were taken and analyzed every five days, un sample before and un sample after of filtration. The parameters that were studied to know the efficiency of the orange shell were: Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5) and Color, according to TULSMA. The structure of the filter is metallic, it gives support to a storage tank with the effluent. In the output of tank, a valve was placed which allows to have a uniform flow rate of 0.105 lts/min, the water down by gravity toward a drip system dividing uniformly all over the material filtering drains included in a plastic recipient, it has inside a tol sheet that gives the direction of the flow toward a small hole for the evacuation filtered water. COD, BOD5 and Color, efficiency were determined based on the data base of physical and chemical analysis, having 90.83%, 93.03% and 71.02%, as maximum efficiency respectively. These results allow us to confirm that the orange shell helps un a reduction of the mentioned parameters, thus the decontamination of the effluent is remarkable of a jeans washer.
