The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the dimensions of parental affective behavior with the level of self-esteem in adolescents of the General Unified High School of the "Leonardo Murialdo" Educational Unit of the province of Tungurahua. This is a descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional research, we worked with a population sample of 104 adolescents between 12 and 18 years old, two psychological reagents were applied: Behavioral Affect Rating Scale (BARS), and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (EAR), the data analysis was carried out with the statistical program (SPSS) using Spearman's Rho correlation test, which determined that there is a relationship between the affection dimension and self-esteem (Rho= 0.356 p<0.05) while with the hostility dimension there is no relationship with self-esteem (Rho= 0.068 p>0.05). With respect to the dimensions of affective behavior, it was found that in the dimension of affection, the high level predominated with the highest level of affection. The high level of affection predominated with 51.0%, while in the dimension of hostility the medium level of affection stood out with 61.5%. Regarding the levels of self-esteem, it was found that high self-esteem prevailed with 39.4%, and with respect to gender, it is reflected that there are no statistically significant differences between self-esteem and gender. It was concluded that parental affection could be associated with self-esteem in adolescents.
