Item Cinemática de la carrera y su relación con resistencia muscular del glúteo medio y mayor(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-03-18) Pilla Tite, Steeven Alexander; Espín Pastor, Victoria EstefaníaThe alteration of running kinematics in relation to the muscular resistance of the gluteus medius and maximus is linked to a high prevalence of injuries in amateur runners when they are in a state of fatigue. Furthermore, evidence mentions that intrinsic and extrinsic factors could contribute to injury risk. However, the variability of results obtained does not indicate that the influence of said muscles will cause kinematic changes. Therefore, the objective of this research project was to determine the relationship between running kinematics and resistance of the gluteus medius and maximus. An evaluation protocol was applied to 50 amateur runners between 18 and 60 years of age of both sexes. The variables analyzed were running kinematics (anterior pattern, extensor pattern and normal pattern), pelvic symmetry, and the strength of the gluteus medius and maximus in a state of fatigue. This research is analytical - prospective without intervention and had a transversal quantitative approach (strength/resistance of the gluteus medius and maximus) and qualitative (kinematics) that were correlated with the Spearman statistical test. The results obtained were that 76% of this population had a normal bilateral kinematic pattern, but when subjected to the fatigue protocol these changed significantly to 28% in the right limb and 12% in the left. Regarding the Spearman coefficient between kinematics and strength, it went from a low correlation in FGm ABD (0.103), FGm ROT-EXT (0.176), FGM ROT-EXT (0.128) to a medium correlation 0.319*, 0.320*, 0.298 * respectively, being something positive in this study. However, we can conclude that, due to the variability of the results obtained in the kinematic patterns, it may be due to multiple factors that reduce the effectiveness of the running gesture and not only the weakness caused by the gluteus medius and maximus when they are fatigued.Item COMPARACIÓN DE LA PRUEBA DE LA Y INSTRUMENTADA Y NO INSTRUMENTADA PARA LA ESTABILIDAD DE MIEMBRO INFERIOR EN POBLACIÓN SANA(2025-02-26) Cisneros Morales, Angela Camila; Espín Pastor, Victoria Estefanía; Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de FisioterapiaThe present project was carried out with the purpose of comparing the instrumented and non-instrumented Y test for lower limb stability in a healthy population. The methodology of the study was a non-experimental design of cross-sectional type and quantitative approach, using the YBT - LQ instrumented and non-instrumented test in two weights (light and heavy). This evaluation was carried out with the participation of 100 healthy people from the parish La Matriz of the Pelileo canton who practiced sports such as soccer, basketball and volleyball. The results of this research showed a high correlation between both light (p=0.673) and heavy (p=0.654) versions. However, the heavy version presented slightly higher scores than the light version. The light version was similar to the results of the instrumented version. In conclusion, the noninstrumented YBT-LQ test in the heavy version as well as the light version show a significant relationship with the instrumented version of the YBT-LQ test.Item COMPARACIÓN DE LA PRUEBA DE LA Y INSTRUMENTADA Y NO INSTRUMENTADA PARA LA ESTABILIDAD DE MIEMBRO SUPERIOR EN POBLACIÓN SANA(2025-02-26) Carrasco Perrazo, Paola Betsabe; Espín Pastor, Victoria Estefanía; Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de FisioterapiaThe present research project was carried out with the purpose of comparing the instrumented and non-instrumented Y test for upper limb stability in a healthy population. The methodology of the study was of non-experimental design, cross-sectional and quantitative approach, using the instrumented and non-instrumented YBT-UQ test. The non-instrumented test was administered in two weight versions: light and heavy. This evaluation was applied to 100 healthy people from La Matriz parish in Pelileo canton. Among the results obtained, it was found that the non-instrumented test (heavy and light) presented statistically significant values with the instrumented test (p = .000). In addition, a better score was obtained in the heavy non-instrumented YBT-UQ test compared to the light and instrumented tests. The male gender presented better reach scores in all three tests, however, both genders faced difficulties in the inferolateral direction. In conclusion, the non-instrumented YBT-UQ test, both heavy and light, are related to the instrumented YBT-UQ test.Item ENTRENAMIENTO DE RESISTENCIA MUSCULAR, RETROALIMENTACIÓN Y SU EFECTO EN LA CINEMÁTICA DE LA CARRERA(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-03-18) Garófalo Mestanza, Katerine Abigail; Espín Pastor, Victoria EstefaníaThe present research work was carried out with the objective of determining the effect of muscular resistance training and feedback on the kinematics of the race. Muscular resistance training (MRT) helps develop the strength and capacity of muscles to maintain optimal and effective performance. On the other hand, analyzing and working on the kinematic feedback of the race (CR) allows us to know the risk factors that influence a kinematic alteration. The training was applied to a population of 40 amateur runners between 18 and 60 years of age of both sexes, who were divided into two intervention groups. A digital sheet was used for data collection, a dynamometer for power take-off with a gluteus medius and maximus evaluation protocol and an endless belt. The evaluation lasted 30 minutes and the training planning was for 4 weeks for each group. The present project has a quantitative and qualitative approach, because the data collected was numerical and categorical that was related to the McNemar statistical test and the T test. The results obtained from the study variables were not statistically significant in the kinematics of the race, however, the relationship between pelvic asymmetry and significant changes with respect to pelvic asymmetry was .05 between the two interventions applied. In conclusion, there were no changes in running kinematics with the two interventions applied, however, modifications were obtained in pelvic asymmetry.Item Evaluación cinemática del aterrizaje en lesiones traumáticas de rodilla en jugadoras de voleibol(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2023-10-03) Meneses Villarroel, Iván Paul; Espín Pastor, Victoria EstefaníaThis research work was carried out with the objective of evaluating the landing kinematics in female volleyball players due to traumatic knee injuries. Currently, volleyball is a growing sport for the female sex, involving a large number of participants in each competition, however, injuries are also very common in these athletes. The method of evaluation was done by viewing videos that had a traumatic injury and without contact, analyzing the kinematics in hip, knee and ankle. In addition, we evaluated before landing, contact with the ground and weight bearing. As results, it was evidenced that during landing a dynamic knee valgus is produced, being the range of motion of the hip and ankle a risk factor for an acute knee injury. Also, speed of injury may be a determinant of severity. In conclusion, knee trauma is commonly caused by a single leg landingItem EVALUACIÓN DE LAS CAPACIDADES FÍSICAS MEDIANTE TEST DE VALORACIÓN DE LA CONDICIÓN FÍSICA EN MILITARES(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-27) Toapanta Vinocunga, Geidy Mabel; Espín Pastor, Victoria EstefaníaPhysical capacities in military personnel are assessed in a regulatory manner in which strength and endurance are subjectively assessed. However, the total parameters of physical capacities are not covered because flexibility and speed, which can be determining factors in physical and work performance, are not assessed. Therefore, the aim of this research project was to determine physical capacities by means of physica l fitness assessment tests in the military. A physical fitness assessment test was applied to examine the strength, endurance, flexibility and speed of 80 military personnel aged between 20 and 50 years at the Patria Military Fort. This research is of a correlatio n a l type with a quantitative approach and a transversal non-experimental design, the correlations carried out were by means of Spearman's statistical test. Among the results obtained, it was determined that the physical fitness of the military personnel is at a good level due to the fact that it ranges from moderate to high. However, there is no direct relationship between the years of military service and physical abilities, i.e., the years of training in this population do not intervene in the performance of physica l tests. Therefore, it can be concluded that a low relationship between jogging and endurance is evident, because jogging is used as an exercise to improve endurance. In addition, abdominal strength plays an important role in push-ups.Item Evaluación del volumen de carga aguda – crónica y su relación con el dolor musculoesquelético en corredores amateurs(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-03-15) Coca Jiménez, Danny Emerson; Espín Pastor, Victoria EstefaníaThe present research work was carried out with the objective of determining the volume of acute-chronic loading with musculoskeletal pain in amateur runners. Load volume refers to the total amount of physical work performed by a runner, including distance traveled, duration and intensity of training. Acute load refers to the magnitude of the training stimulus over a short period of time, such as a week, while chronic load refers to the accumulation of load over time, such as a month or several months. Musculoskeletal pain is a common sign among amateur runners, and may be related to excessive or inappropriate loading in training. Assessment of acute and chronic volume loading can help identify potential risk factors and prevent musculoskeletal injuries. The relationship between loading volume and musculoskeletal pain is complex and may vary between runners. A sudden or excessive increase in volume loading can increase the risk of musculoskeletal pain, while gradual and appropriate progression can help prevent injury. The present research is correlational and uses a quantitative approach to analyze the relationship between acute-chronic load and musculoskeletal pain in amateur runners. The "Acute Chronical Workload Ratio" (ACWR) model will be used to evaluate training load, and this variable will be related to musculoskeletal pain measured by the numerical pain scale (NRS). The study is prospective and longitudinal, since weekly evaluations of the variables will be carried out over a period of three consecutive months. In this study, the volume of acute-chronic load and its relationship with musculoskeletal pain was analyzed in a group of amateur runners. It was found that the average ACWR was 1.22, which indicates a categorization in the optimal middle zone of the load ratio. Regarding the evaluation of pain using the numerical pain scale (NRS), it was observed that 21.7% of the runners had pain, with a mean NRS of 1.35, which indicates a level of pain. Furthermore, a moderate relationship was found between acute-chronic loading volume and musculoskeletal pain, indicating that excessive loading may contribute to the development of pain in recreational runners.Item EVALUACIÓN DEL VOLUMEN DE CARGA AGUDA-CRÓNICA Y SU RELACIÓN CON EL DOLOR MUSCULOESQUELÉTICO EN EL ENTRENAMIENTO DE FUERZA(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-28) Granda Mejía, Tatiana Lizbeth; Espín Pastor, Victoria EstefaníaThe research was carried out with the purpose of determining the acute-chronic load volume with musculoskeletal pain in strength training. The acute-chronic training load volume is an instrument that serves as a quantifier of the total amount of work performed by an individual. The acute load is the amount of training performed in the short term in order to know the recent effort and intensity, while the chronic load is that which represents the total amount of work in the long term, usually over a period of 4 weeks or more. In strength training it has been evidenced that most of the population presents musculoskeletal pain and this would be due to the fact that the subjects would be performing overtraining, poor load management, incorrect techniques, high loads, among other factors. Evaluating the acute:chronic load volume can help to optimi z e the individual's performance and prevent injuries. The present research is of a longitudinal correlational type with a quantitat i v e approach, the “Acute chronical workload ratio” (ACWR) method will be used to quantify the training load volume and relate it to the Numerical Pain Scale (NRS), the research consists of a prospective design focused on the relationship between trainin g load volume and musculoskeletal pain, the participants will be monitored every week for two consecutive months to obtain their results.Acute load volume analysis was performed and the resulting ACWR was found to be 0.92 in the first month and 0.93 in the second month, indicating a range in the optima l load ratio zone. With regard to pain assessment, the Numerical Pain Scale (NRS) was used, with a mean NRS of 2.80 indicating mild to moderate pain. In summary, in the results it was established that there is no increase of high loads therefore it was not related to musculoskeletal pain, due to the fact that the populati o n may be presenting pain that is associated to other external factors.Item Factores asociados al catastrofismo en pacientes con dolor de hombro(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2023-10-03) Guerrero Galarza, Shirley Cristina; Espín Pastor, Victoria EstefaníaCatastrophizing in the context of shoulder pain refers to an exaggerated emotional response and a negative perception of pain, where the person tends to interpret and magnify pain signals, anticipate the worst, and experience a feeling of despair or helplessness in the face of situation. This psychological factor ca n have a significant impact on pain perception, quality of life, functional disability, and response to treatment in patients with shoulder pain. This research project examined the relationship of catastrophizing in patients with shoulder pain. Data from 60 patients were collected using the Pain Catastrophizing Scale and assessments of pain type and affected area. The results were compared with scientific evidence from the last 5 years. It was found that there is a relationship between catastrophizing and shoulder pain. As pain intensity increases, people are more likely to experience more catastrophizing. Additionally, prolonged duration of shoulder pain may also be associated with higher levels of catastrophizing. However, the results did not show a direct association between catastrophizing and variables such as age, weight, height, BMI and whether they are athletes. No significant correlation was found between catastrophizing and exercise habits, diagnoses and physiotherapy treatments, job occupation and mood related to work stress. Regarding the duration and intensity of pain, no significant correlation was found with catastrophizing. This study has also shown that pain catastrophizing can have a significant impact on people's quality of life, the results indicate that pain has negative effects on multiple areas of daily life, such as mood, social relationships , sleep and the ability to enjoy life. However, the magnitude of these correlations varies, with some being stronger than others. Some studies suggest that certain psychosocial factors may be associated with catastrophizing in shoulder pain. However, results in this area are mixed and more research is required to fully understand these associations. The identification of factors associated with catas trophizing in shoulder pain is essential for the development of effective interventions. Interventions that address both the physical and psychological aspects of shoulder pain have been shown to be beneficial in reducing catastrophizing and improving patients' quality of life. In this sense, education and communication play a crucial role. Providing accurate and understandable information about shoulder pain, including its nature, possible causes, treatment options, and prognosis, can help reduce the uncertainty and fear associated with pain and promote realistic expectations.Item Incidencia y factores asociados al catastrofismo en pacientes con dolor lumbar crónico(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Carrera de Psicología Fisioterapia, 2023-10-03) Caiza Chusin, Julio Cesar; Espín Pastor, Victoria EstefaníaThe present research was carried out with the objective of determining which associated factors are related to catastrophizing in patients with chronic low back pain. Chronic low back pain is a sensation of muscular discomfort, which can affect the psychosocial state with an extension of the pain to more body regions. Assessments were applied to a population of 61 patients with chronic low back pain between 18 and 60 years of age of both sexes. A catastrophizing questionnaire (PCS), pain drawing (PD) and a digital data collection sheet and associated factors were used. A single evaluation was carried out, which lasted 15 minutes. The present project has a quantitative approach, since the PCS questionnaire, pain drawing and associated factors sheet were applied, obtaining numerical and categorical values that were related with Pearson and Spearman statistical tests. It is a cross - sectional analytical study, seeking to characterize low back pain and correlational by relating the factors associated with catastrophizing. Obtaining as a result between the relationship of catastrophism and associated factors, age (p= 0.002), BMI (p= 0.035), smoking (p= 0.01), surgical intervention (p= 0.008), use of orthopedics (p= 0004), working hours (p= 0.001) and pain interference ( p= 0.009), are correlated with suffering chronic low back pain. In conclusion, high scores of catastrophism are correlated with the associated factors, determining which variables should be taken into account for the evaluation of the patient with chronic low back pain, in order to improve their rehabilitationItem INSTRUMENTOS DE EVALUACIÓN DESPUÉS DE LA RECONSTRUCCIÓN DE LIGAMENTO CRUZADO ANTERIOR(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-28) Rojas Ibarra, César Enrique; Espín Pastor, Victoria EstefaníaClinical trials focused on anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) use multip l e assessment methods to determine the effectiveness of interventions ; however, the tests used depend on the authors' criteria. The purpose of this study was to determine the assessment instruments used in ACLR with autograft or allograft. A search was conducted in the Cochrane, Scielo, Pubmed, Epistemonikos, and PEDro databases up to May 10, 2024. Inclusion criteria focused on systematic reviews or meta-analys es from the past five years that specified the type of graft, included follow-up details, and were in English or Spanish. Exclusion criteria included studies without population numbers, sex descriptions , or available access. Post-surgical follow-up times for strength evaluat i o n exceed 24 months. The assessment instruments used included the Limb Symmetry Index (LSI), isokinetic and isometric strength tests; clinical tests such as Lachman, Pivot Shift Test; functional evaluations such as the Single Leg Hop Test; question naires associat e d with surgery and function like the IKDC, Lysholm, Tegner, Shellbourne Trumper; and finally, subjective evaluations such as anterior knee pain, pain while kneeling, and Active Joint Position Sense Assessment. Numerous assessment instrument s exist following ACL reconstruction, but it is essential to identify the most effective ones in clinical contexts.Item “MEDIDAS DE BIOSEGURIDAD PARA LA PREVENCIÓN DE RIESGO LABORAL EN LOS FISIOTERAPISTAS DE LOS CENTROS DE PRÁCTICAS DOCENTES ASISTENCIALES EN CONVENIOS CON LA UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO EN LA CIUDAD DE AMBATO”(2015-02-24) Espín Pastor, Victoria EstefaníaEl presente trabajo investigativo tuvo como interrogante el conocer si la aplicación correcta de las medidas de bioseguridad previenen el riesgo laboral que se encuentra expuesto el fisioterapista en su trabajo. However, there are a variety of methods used but their reliability and validity has not been fully tested. The aim of this study is to determine the most accessible, reliable and valid methods of quadriceps strength assessment. Therefore, a systematic review based on the PRISMA method guidelines was carried out in the databases PubMed, Cochrane, Google Scholar, Medline, including a total of 15 articles. A remarkable validity and reliability was detected in the different configurations of the hand-held dynamometer. Nevertheless, the isokinetic dynamometer has an excellent degree of reliability and validity, although it turns out to be very inaccessible and expensive. On the other hand, future investigations are expected within pathological populations. One of the most prevalent pathologies associated with the rotator cuff occurs in the glenohumeral joint mainly due to repetitive movements. Reaching an incidence of 16%, affecting the musculoskeletal system generating significant disability, studies show gender differences in the perception and response of chronic pain in rotator cuff tendinopathies. Therefore, the objective of this research project was to determine the types and areas of pain reported by patients with rotator cuff tendinopathies, differentiating by sex. Information was collected through a survey that included a personal data sheet with names and ages, as well as graphs of the human body so that patients could identify areas of pain. It was carried out in a population of 42 participants from the province. from Cotopaxi and Tungurahua distributed equally between men and women. The research approach is quantitative since a prospective and cross-sectional observational design was adopted, carrying out a single evaluation that allowed data to be collected from the participants. Among the results, there were no statistically significant differences between sexes in the distribution of pain from a general analysis (p=909). However, females presented a greater body extent of pain in the hand area compared to males (p=0.043).
