(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2022-09-01) Fuentes Rodríguez, Stephanie Mishell; Eugenio Zumbana, Lizbeth Carolina, Ps. Cl. Mg.
The aim of the study was to identify the relationship between the level of self-esteem and the severity of eating disorder symptomatology in adolescents. For this purpose, a non- experimental quantitative study was developed with a descriptive, correlational, cross- sectional, non-experimental design. It counted with the participation of 125 adolescents from the Oxford Educational Unit of the city of Salcedo, selected through inclusion criteria, who were administered the Rosemberg Self-Esteem questionnaire, in its adapted version (1995) with a reliability of 0.88 and the Eatin Atittudes Test Questionnaire (EAT- 26) adapted to Spanish in 2009 with 0.87 reliability. It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between the levels of Self-esteem and Eating Disorders (p=.002), as for the levels of self-esteem it is presented in high level with 42.6%; also 68% of the participants had a low level of risk of symptoms of eating disorders, it was also determined that the female sex has a low prevalence of self-esteem, while for eating disorders no significant differences were found between men and women.
