(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Enfermería, 2023-09-28) Guaman Ashqui, Ibeth Selena; Analuisa Jiménez, Eulalia Isabel
The Papanicolaou test is essential to detect changes in the cervix and prevent cervical cancer, but despite this, the young population has not become aware of the importance of this test and has put aside its practice, either out of fear or ignorance. To determine the level of knowledge and attitude towards the Papanicolaou exam in university students. The research is qualitativequantitative, with a descriptive observational design, for the sampling the cluster sampling was used and later the simple finitesampling formula was applied, in addition as data collection instruments a questionnaire of interviews and surveys was constructed. It can be mentioned that the knowledge level variable is not associated with the practice frequency variable. It is established that adequate knowledge about the test, but little practice of it is due to factors such as ignorance, fear and shame on the part of the personnel who perform the test, so it is necessary to raise awareness about the importance of the test.
