    The present investigation is once to identify the correlation between the depression and hypothyroidism in out patients of the endocrinology service of the Ambato Provincial Teaching Hospital. Depression is mental disorder characterized by a low mood, followed by other symptoms such as feelings of guilt and disability, anhedonia, lack of sleep and appetite as well as fatigue and in severe cases recurrent thoughts of death orattempts may appear Suicidal; The evaluation of depression was done through the Beck Depression Test. Thyroid hormones are indispensable for metabolism in all body tissues, and where symptoms such as weight gain, dry skin, brittle hair, arthralgias and psychological symptoms such as fatigue, drowsiness, loss of intellectual quality can be found, for this variable was used Laboratory tests where the values of TSH and T4 were evidenced. The study sample consisted of 34 patients, and data analysis was performed in the SPSS statistical program through the square test (X2), thus proving that there is a dependence between the variables and therefore a relationship between Depression and hypothyroidism.
