This research project was developed in the company Calzado GAMO'S located in the province of Tungurahua, where it was determined that the main problem is the manual handling of lifting and moving loads, which when not properly controlled can lead to musculoskeletal disorders affecting the health of workers. Therefore, in order to identify the ergonomic conditions, a survey based on the INSHT MMC (National Institute of Occupational Safety and Hygiene for the Manual Handling of Loads) technical guide was applied, which allowed obtaining ergonomic data regarding the handling of loads and determining the acceptable weight with which they should work, with the objective of reducing the level of risk, this calculation was made for the two areas of study. As a complement, the Nordic questionnaire was used to determine the areas of the body that present discomfort in each of the workers For the assessment of ergonomic risks with respect to the transport of cargo carried out individually or in groups, the MAC (Manual handling Assessment Charts) methodology was used, which allows the assessment of factors such as; the type of grip of the box, transit surface, distance between back and hands, among others. Also continuing with the evaluation of ergonomic risks, the NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) equation was used, which made it possible to obtain the lifting index together with the level of risk involved. The results obtained indicate that currently both the warehouse and storage areas are at a tolerable and non-tolerable risk level, respectively, and therefore require prompt corrective actions, for which procedures were carried out for lifting and moving loads, as well as a program of active breaks.
