(Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y de la educación -Carrera de Psicopedagogía, 2025-01-16) Hernández Zumbana Patricia Maricela; Andrade Albán Jorge Rodrigo; Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y de la educación -Carrera de Psicopedagogía
The present research had as its theme: Emotional intelligence and social development and was carried out with the objective of determining the incidence of emotional intelligence in social development in sixth year EGB children of the Mario Cobo Barona Educational Unit. For the development of the research, a mixed approach methodology and a descriptive and correlational type were used, as a sample a total of 90 sixth year EGB students were shown to whom 2 instruments were applied: the first was the BarOn ICE emotional intelligence inventory and the second, the Social Development Scale. The results were processed through Excel and the hypothesis was tested through the Chi 2 test. The research shows that a large part of the students have a low level of emotional development, which affects their social performance, reflected in few interactions with their peers, lack of integration in the group, selfish attitudes and little cooperation. Furthermore, it was found that emotional intelligence does have an impact on the social development of students, which is why it is suggested that interventions be carried out to improve the proper management of emotions and consequently the formation of healthy and satisfactory social relationships in students because this is a fundamental part of their integral development
