    Afrontamiento del covid-19 y sus efectos en el desempeño de las funciones del personal de seguridad

    Introduction: COVID-19 has generated diseases that have especially affected the respiratory system of mankind and even led to death, it has also generated mental imbalances, psychological disorders in security personnel, creating confusion, fears, due to changes in routines. Objective: To analyse COVID-19 coping and its effects on the performance of the functions of security personnel. Methodology: This research is quantitative, field-based, descriptive and cross-sectional. It was carried out by means of a census sample in which the population consisted of personnel working in the Tungurahua Police Sub-zone No. 18, with a Community Police Unit (UPC) of 50 active duty personnel designated for the study. Information was collected by means of a questionnaire, which contains 9 scales that have been validated with Cronbach's Alpha. Results: Compliance with preventive measures to avoid contagion of the coronavirus is shown. 92% use the mask when leaving home and 64% keep their distance from other people, and 44% have felt very anxious or afraid, very sad or depressed during the pandemic. Conclusions: The coping with COVID-19 in security personnel has improved significantly, allowing them to carry out their work functions in a normal way, therefore it is essential to continue promoting strategies in the servers to maintain a state of physical and mental health in good condition.
