This research carries out a comparative analysis of parenting styles in families with children with disabilities, highlighting the differences and similarities of two families from the Pelileo canton. This study was carried out using a qualitative approach through case studies, the instrument implemented for collecting information was an interview guide, which consists of 28 items focused on the research indicators, prepared by the author and validated by three experts on the subject. The study revealed the intense and painful emotions that these families went through when they learned about their children's disability. In particular, the mothers faced feelings of guilt, managing to overcome them with support from the networks. Furthermore, they highlight discipline as an essential role of parents; these families critically evaluate themselves and recognize their failures in this area. It can be noted that both families show unequal dynamics according to parental consent, the passivity of the parents can respond to the emotional need of a child with disabilities, which has caused inequality in discipline and family conflicts. The study highlights the importance of establishing clear and firm rules and limits to induce good behavior in your children. The differences in the parenting styles of these families reflect variations in personalities, roles, beliefs, and discipline strategies. The parents of both families are noted for their loving nature, mutual collaboration, and teamwork as a family. However, in the families investigated, weaknesses were identified that generate imbalance in the family dynamic, such as indiscipline and inadequate and deficient communication. Due to this, confusion is generated in the establishment of rules and limits, behavioral problems and conflicts. They fail to dissolve properly, which leads to long-term tensions
