Item Calidad de sueño y síndrome de burnout en servidores de la Policía Nacional del Ecuador(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2024-03-01) Orna Colcha, Fernanda Lizbeth; Ponce Delgado Dra. Mg, Agueda del RocíoPolice officers experience remarkable demands in their work environment, which directly impact sleep quality. Poor sleep quality is commonly associated with fatigue and decreased work skills, thus negatively affecting their job performance. The objective to determine the relationship between sleep quality and dimensions of burnout syndrome in a sample of 237 police officers. The research had a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Maslach Burnout Inventory - General Survey version (MBI-GS) were applied. Sleep quality has a moderate positive relationship with emotional exhaustion (Rho=0.531, p<0.01), slight positive relationship with cynicism (Rho=0.334, p<0.01) and slight negative relationship with professional efficacy (Rho=0.276, p<0.01). Regarding sleep quality, 71.3% presented poor sleep quality, where no statistically significant difference was found between police officers at the managerial level and those at the technical-operational level. Regarding the dimensions of burnout syndrome, a low level of emotional exhaustion (51.9%), a moderate level of cynicism (50.6%) and a high level of professional efficacy (51.9%) were identified. Good quality sleep leads to reduced levels of emotional exhaustion and cynicism, while increasing professional effectiveness.
