    Respiratory affections are problems that occur in the respiratory system either in the upper and lower respiratory tracts, which present themselves permanently or transiently, becoming a major problem in the field of public health around the world and which represents one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality, for which the mothers of rural areas as a first option use home care or natural medicine to treat various ailments in their children. The main objective of this research is to determine the empirical care applied by mothers of children under 5 years of age in respiratory diseases. The methodology used was through a descriptive, bibliographic and field study in which techniques were used to access information through data collection instruments such as the survey which was applied to mothers or users of This population, therefore once tabulated, it will be possible to arrive at several conclusions stating that traditional or empirical medicine is relevant for the inhabitants of the different communities, most of them indigenous, because their interculturality is maintained, through their aptitudes, beliefs, traditions , experience and knowledge that are transcended from generation to generation obtaining favorable results to treat ailments presented in children.
