Exploración de técnicas de reciclaje con remanentes de resina plástica reforzada con fibra de vidrio orientadas al diseño de objetos
(2023-09) Pacha Pilco, Carlos Ramiro; Paucar Samaniego, Mayra Alejandra
The project presents the exploration of techniques and feasibility of recycling fiberglass reinforced plastic resin (FRP) remnants for the design of new objects. The province of Tungurahua contributes approximately 70% of the total production of the national metal-mechanic industry, generating fiberglass waste, considered pollutants due to its composition, in the car body manufacturing process, whose final destination is landfills. For the development of this research, the company MASTERFIBRA, which generates approximately 260 kg/month of PRFV in its manufacturing processes, has been taken as a case study. Through the use of quantitative methodology, a polymeric matrix composite material was characterized and subjected to mechanical tests to evaluate compression, bending and tensile strength by means of ASTM D785, ASTM D675 and ASTM D638 tests. Finally, through the application of design methodologies, a competitive furniture has been generated in the market, demonstrating that circular processes can be incorporated to the existing ones, giving an added value to one of the wastes of the Metalmechanical cluster so that innovation processes can be incorporated within the companies for the generation of new products from these wastes.
