Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2017) Quinaluiza Pujos, Hugo Roberto; Moya Medina, Dilon GermánTo develop the following project. It was very important to choose a place that presents the necessary conditions to carry out the project with all the facilities that the study requires. It is very important to obtain samples of water used in the process of washing the cars. To do the experiment, a metal structure was constructed where a container with 208.20 of water. The effluent would be deposited which will be transported to the filter by means of a pipe at a drop height of one meter; the filter is made with a single layer of vegetable ashes in an amount of volume that is 35 liters of filter material. In the study, chemical and physical arguments were analyzed. For instance, the water was carried out to nine samples after the filtration process and a sample that did not have any type of treatment and through these analyzes will know the values that it possesses of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Oils, and Fats respectively in each sample. The filtration system was in constant operation for ninety days throughout the day at a flow rate of 0.105 l / min. According to the results; in almost the majority samples that were analyzed; they were able to decrease by more than 100 mg / l Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), with an average efficiency of 49% compared to the unfiltered sample, Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5) was reduced to more than 40 mg / l with an average efficiency of 32% in the majority of the samples. The parameter that was the most successfully reduced; was the one that contain oil and fats because it decreases more than 300 mg / l in all samples, showing a higher efficiency of the filter, which was 83% efficiency. It was known that the most optimal life to be able to use this material as a filter medium is within 50 days of being used continuously.
