Mg.
Family plays a very important role in patient recovery. Despite this, it is rarely considered as an important recovery component in nursing practices. As such, we decided to carry out the current research with the objective of determining the perception of relatives regarding patient care provided by nursing staff at the Intensive Care Unit of Ambato General Hospital. The research project uses a quantitative methodology, non-experimental field research design, with a cross-sectional type of descriptive research, the study population was made up of family members identified in the period established by the project with a total of 32 participants included by close relatives such as: parents, mothers, spouses, children; through the application of a structured interview, which was carried out in the Intensive Care Unit of the Ambato General Hospital. Finally, it was concluded that the relatives of the patients consider a very good nursing care, in the three dimensions studied, the quality of attention, emotional support and finally the level of communication between the nursing staff and the relatives, however there are aspects to improve, such as: the nursing staff must first identify their relatives so that they know and establish good communication with the staff in charge of their patient during the hospital stay.
