The road improvement project connecting the communities of San Vicente and Wambula is a key initiative for regional development. However, the inadequate current road infrastructure has limited economic growth and social integration, negatively affecting access to markets and services. This road is essential for the local economy, especially for transporting agricultural products such as cocoa, a significant crop in the region. To address this issue, a comprehensive study was conducted, starting with detailed field inspections to assess the current state of the road. These inspections were followed by a topographic survey, essential for planning the road design. Additionally, an AADT (Average Annual Daily Traffic) analysis was carried out to determine the volume and type of traffic the road would support. The soil study, conducted through test pits, revealed the physical and mechanical characteristics of the terrain, which are crucial for making decisions about the geometric design of the road and the pavement structure. Technical parameters were defined to ensure functionality and safety for all road users. Moreover, a detailed unit price analysis was prepared to ensure the economic feasibility of the project. The results provided a solid foundation for project implementation. The geometric design includes the optimization of the road layout and structural elements that ensure a safe and efficient infrastructure. This project represents a significant contribution from the Technical University of Ambato, reaffirming its commitment to regional development and community well-being.
