The primary purpose of this project is to conduct a thorough study on the effective inventory management at Sueldas del Valle, a company specializing in the distribution of hardware products with two warehouses and a main storage facility in the cities of Ambato and Latacunga. The main issue is the lack of effective inventory management in the company, as it lacks precise information about product quantities in stock, procurement needs, and the presence of obsolete items. This leads to problems such as product shortages resulting in customer loss. Additionally, an excess of inventory for certain items is observed, increasing storage costs and the risk of obsolescence. For the research, direct observation was employed to determine the initial situation of the company using the IPISI methodology (Infrastructure, Processes, Inventories, Safety and Health, Indicators). An unstructured interview was conducted, revealing deficiencies in all areas, with a particular focus on the inventory phase. Also, the ABC analysis was conducted to identify products that generate the most utility for the company and the best-selling products over the course of a year. For research purposes, sales data from the year 2022 were utilized to perform calculations for optimal inventory management. These calculations include order quantity, number of orders, and safety stock for the 558 products owned by the company. Additionally, logistics and aging indicators were proposed to ensure proper inventory management, preventing stockouts or obsolete products and improving the supply chain. Finally, the activities of each company process are detailed, and improvements in the infrastructure and safety phase are proposed. Relevant regulations related to the design and maintenance of flooring, loading and unloading docks, installation safety, and worker safety were consulted for this purpose.
