Farmers in the highlands of the Quero canton face the challenge of frosts, low temperatures that negatively affect crop development. The techniques currently employed lack effectiveness and a solid scientific basis to mitigate these adverse effects. This project focuses on developinga prototype mobile application for the control and monitoring of potato crops during frost events. The application integrates sensors that measure temperature, humidity, and wind speed, allowing continuous monitoring of climatic conditions. Additionally, it sends alerts to farmers about the irrigation status. It is noteworthy that the irrigation system activates and deactivates automatically upon reaching the established thresholds, although it also provides the option for the user to decide its operation manually. The sustainability of the system is ensured using solar panels as an energy source, and sprinkler irrigation is employed as themain technique for frost protection. During the data collection phase, surveys were conducted with farmers and three agronomy experts were consulted to define the sensor thresholds. For the construction of the prototype, the RAD (Rapid Application Development) methodology was used, which allows for the rapid delivery of the product. The mobile application was developed using Ionic with React, while the transmitter and receiver system was built with two 9l5MHz ESP32 LORA V3 boards that use LoRa communication.
