The research focused on analyzing parenting styles and self-injurious behaviors in adolescents aged 12 to 17 years. A quantitative, non-experimental, correlational, cross-sectional approach was used. The main objective of this study was to understand how parents' parenting styles are related to the frequency of these self-injurious behaviors. Data from 152 adolescents were examined using two scales: one to assess parenting style (ESPA29) and another to measure the level of self-injury (AEAS). The results made it possible to identify the connection between parental affection and closeness and self-injury in adolescents, since those who had close parental support were less likely to selfinjure, while the authoritarian style predominated among the same. Of theyoung people studied, 48.7% presented low values, 32.9% medium and 18.4% high, with a higher prevalence among females. Therefore, they demonstrate the importance of parents in terms of involvement and emotional presence of the adolescent, highlighting the importance of a protective factor against self-injury. This demonstrates the need to develop their parenting, which will contribute to the good emotional development of adolescents.
