INTERVENCIÓN NUTRICIONAL EN DEPORTISTAS DE ALTO RENDIMIENTO CON ANEMIA
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera Nutrición y Dietética, 2024-09-25) Tuaza Manobanda, María José; Guevara Villacís, Mishelts Vanessa
Sports nutrition, a constantly evolving science, focuses on providing athletes with the nutrients necessary for training, competition, recovery and rest. This includes adequate energy, macronutrients for muscle repair, and micronutrients for physical performance. "Sports anemia" is a concern, characterized by low hemoglobin levels that can affect performance. Iron deficiency anemia, caused by iron deficiency, is common in athletes and can affect the body's ability to transport oxygen. Intense exercise can induce changes in the hematological system, contributing to this apparent anemia. Iron intake and bioavailability are essential, highlighting the importance of combining iron-rich foods with absorption enhancers and avoiding inhibitors such as tea and calcium. In athletic women, high levels of hepcidin can inhibit iron absorption, especially during intermittent fasting, increasing the risk of anemia and menstrual problems. Athletes, especially women, have higher iron requirements due to losses during menstruation and increased metabolism. Therefore, special attention to iron intake is crucial to maintain optimal performance in sport.

SUPLEMENTACIÓN PROTEICA COMO AYUDA ERGOGÉNICA EN EL DEPORTE DE ALTO RENDIMIENTO
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Nutrición y Dietética, 2024-09-25) Urbina López, Alex Andrés; Hidalgo Morales, Kattyta Patricia
Athletes in training and other people who increase their physical activity also increase their muscle mass and therefore need supplementary proteins during this period.(OMS, 1975) General objective: To analyze the consumption of protein supplements as an ergogenic aid in high performance sport. Methodology: A literature review will be conducted in Spanish and English from 2018 to 2023 of scientific articles, postgraduate thesis articles, scientific journal publications in PubMed, Google Scholar, Web of Science, SciELO. Results: There are studies showing that the use of ergogenic aids such as protein supplements help the stimulation of muscle fibers and muscle and tendon recovery post-training. Conclusions: In order to carry out protein supplementation, the type of supplement to be given to the athlete, the additives that such supplement may have and the adequate amount so that it does not represent a risk to his health or an adverse effect to the expected one must be analyzed
