Item MANEJO NUTRICIONAL EN ADULTOS MAYORES CON SARCOPENIA(2025-06-18) Chicaiza Caiza, Dany Fabricio; Guevara Villacís, Mishelts Vanessa; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Carrera de Nutrición y DietéticaThis article is a systematic study on nutritional intervention in older adults with sarcopenia, the main objective is to update information on adequate nutrition and the benefits of supplementation. The study methodology is qualitative, descriptive, where strategies of documentary analysis of scientific articles, postgraduate theses, clinical cases, bibliographic reviews were applied, for which the following keywords related to the topic were used: “sarcopenia, diet, supplementation, older adult, muscle mass”. The results indicate that providing sufficient protein and combined with exercise allows maintaining muscle mass and counteracting muscle loss, promoting growth and repair. The recommended amount of protein is 1.2 to 2 grams per kilogram of body weight per day in older adults. It is significant to distribute protein intake in a balanced way throughout the day, including high quality sources such as lean meats, fish, eggs, dairy and legumes. There are benefits supplements that help in the treatment of sarcopenia, those containing leucine, creatine, vitamin D, among others, as they have nutrients that help to improve muscle protein synthesis, promoting muscle function and reducing inflammation.Item SUPLEMENTACIÓN PROTEICA COMO AYUDA ERGOGÉNICA EN EL DEPORTE DE ALTO RENDIMIENTO(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Nutrición y Dietética, 2024-09-25) Urbina López, Alex Andrés; Hidalgo Morales, Kattyta PatriciaAthletes in training and other people who increase their physical activity also increase their muscle mass and therefore need supplementary proteins during this period.(OMS, 1975) General objective: To analyze the consumption of protein supplements as an ergogenic aid in high performance sport. Methodology: A literature review will be conducted in Spanish and English from 2018 to 2023 of scientific articles, postgraduate thesis articles, scientific journal publications in PubMed, Google Scholar, Web of Science, SciELO. Results: There are studies showing that the use of ergogenic aids such as protein supplements help the stimulation of muscle fibers and muscle and tendon recovery post-training. Conclusions: In order to carry out protein supplementation, the type of supplement to be given to the athlete, the additives that such supplement may have and the adequate amount so that it does not represent a risk to his health or an adverse effect to the expected one must be analyzed
