In the 21st century, the presence of women in sports journalism, an area of great relevance within the media industry, is still a problem. Using the category of gender to characterize the sports field as a space of generic distinction where dominance is built around masculinity, we analyze how this model transcends in the representation of sports in the press, radio and television. This proposal was also born with the idea of investigating the knowledge of women's participation in sports journalism, which has been created exclusively to occupy roles that limit the opportunities to emerge in the different occupations within the radios in the city of Ambato, including the work of commentator or narrator in soccer games. The methodology used is quantitative, since 370 people (audience) who attend soccer games at the Bellavista stadium in the city of Ambato were surveyed, and interviews were conducted with journalists who have extensive experience in the area of sports journalism. Within the world of journalism, there are women who work in this area, the problem is when they want to get more involved with the media, many assume that this area of journalism should be exercised and led by men. The study on women in sports journalism and participation in the media states that the role of women in radio in soccer broadcasts is to perform commercial voice, field edge or simply fulfill interviews in sports programs, it was also found that it is important the inclusion of women journalists in different functions at the same rank as men, also because it was diagnosed that the audience has not heard many women performing activities in sports programs, there have been very few, yet they would like to hear women in the story or comments in official soccer matches. In short, in the city of Ambato and in different parts of Ecuador, there is still inequality in the field of sports journalism, either by the same stereotypes or simply discrimination. The representation of women in the media in Ambato shows a trend towards greater inclusion, although still insufficient compared to men. The inclusion of more women in these key roles would not only enrich the sports narrative but also contribute to a more just and balanced representation in Ambato's media.

Performance Drag Queen: El arte como escenario político
(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Comunicaciòn, 2024-08) Guevara Freire, Karen Mishell; Brito Alvarado, Leonardo Xavier
Currently, the concept of art has been diluted by multiple discourses of contemporary thought such as postmodernity, virtuality and technological advances, creating confusion about what art is. This has led to superficial imitations, falling into discourses of banality of the modern world. It is crucial to retake art as an artistic and political manifestation, its original definition. Art is not only a space where aesthetics of the beautiful, the ugly, the sublime or the abstract converge, but also a political space. This research highlights the need for an interdisciplinary dialogue in the Social Sciences, where thoughts about gender, subject, body vindication and communication converge, moving away from punitive and reductionist views that generate oppression and discrimination. This topic is relevant for the communicational debate and to open the dialogue on historically invisible scenarios. The methodological approach of the research is divided into two moments. The first is a theoretical and bibliographical tour to discuss the categories and concepts present, such as art, drag, performance and theater. This in order to build a solid epistemic route to reflect from communication on scenarios made invisible by historical, social and political conjunctures. In the second moment, a semiotic analysis of the performance presented by Larvarye during the "Dragada Por La Diversidad" is developed. In addition, interviews are conducted to obtain a greater wealth of information and to understand how drag art uses various elements to convey ideas. Queer and feminist theories question gender binarity and sexual norms, promoting the recognition of diverse identities as human rights. Semiotic analysis and interviews reveal that drag performance uses symbols to rethink and challenge social norms, becoming a tool for critical reflection and social transformation. Drag art is a testimony of resistance that addresses social, political and cultural issues, turning the body into a space of resistance and collective memory. Drag performance, as "artivism", opens a dialogue on inclusivity, social justice and rights, promoting greater empathy and understanding

(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Comunicaciòn, 2023-09) Franco Miranda, Kevin Andrés; Vayas Ruiz, Eliza Carolina
The main intention of this research is to analyze LGBT+ cinematic narrative discourses in the films "Milk" (2008) and "Bros" (2022). Each selected film contains a context and ideology from its respective year, allowing for the examination of changes in the representation of the queer community in cinema. Two LGBT+ genre films are studied and analyzed to explore the different criteria and characteristics used to analyze this type of discourse, as well as gender perspectives and sexual diversity in popular culture. Thus, the methodology used in this research is critical discourse analysis based on Eiroa and Barranquero's approach. The research focuses on developing conceptual strategies to address the study's topic, such as characters and scenes. The aim is to determine how LGBT+ themes and other relevant elements are approached and how they relate to the dominant social discourses of their respective eras. As a result, this research concludes that the two films depict different stereotypes and prejudices. The homosexual community transitions from being portrayed with prejudices and a struggle for their rights to being exemplified with real and fitting issues, such as acceptance and internal and external discrimination within the homosexual world.

(Universida Técnica de Ambato,Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales,Carrera de Comunicación Social, 2022-09) Alejandra Anais, Layedra Escobar; Leonardo Xavier, Brito Alvarado
ABSTRACT Children's cinema presents in its animated productions stereotypes and gender roles to children, who, feeling represented and identified by the characters, replicate their behaviors and actions in the society in which they are developing. Each animated film contains ideologies of the year in which it was created, that is why, in order to show the changes in the gender media discourse, two children's films are studied and analyzed: “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” (1937) and “Red Shoes and the seven dwarfs” (2019). The methodology used in this research is discourse analysis based on Patrick Charaudeau. An analysis matrix of the characters, of the scenes and a comparative matrix is used, all this to determine what are the stereotypes and gender roles presented by the characters, the media discourse that each film projects and finally the comparison between the two feature films to show if there is a positive change in the gender discourse. The main conclusion reached with this investigative work is that the two animations show completely different stereotypes and gender roles, where the woman goes from being the head of the household and dominated by men to being the heroine and adventure partner of the male characters.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Comunicación Social, 2021-02) Ruiz Durán, Erika Fernanda; Guamán Guadalima, Nelly Gabriela
Advertising plays an important role within society, because through this unimaginable things can be made known that make people have certain behaviors or desires to achieve life or the articles offered by the media through their advertisements. In this way, it is important to highlight that they show ideals or behaviors that minimize, discriminate and undermine the dignity, honor, self-esteem and value of each individual. In the present research work, 14 images between the years 1950 and 2019, belonging to the newspaper "El Heraldo" of the city of Ambato, were analyzed, where they show how over the years the image of women was denigrated, objectified and sexualized for the sale of products. At present, there is another perspective regarding these publications due to certain movements that watch over women's rights, in this case “feminism” and public policies that in some way regulate that women are not taken as a object for consumption. Likewise, the quantitative methodology is of vital importance in this project to understand the proposed phenomenon; The techniques applied were the analysis of contents and indicators that help to understand when? where? and because? these macho publications were stopped.

Being mostly iconic figures these generate almost entirely thought; it can’t be considered that conduct or intellect is instantly formed. The main objective is to develop a valid methodological tool for the collection of information regarding the treated
