Item Análisis de las alteraciones sensoriales en el adulto mayor y su relación con la independencia funcional y equilibrio(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Terapia Física, 2022-03-01) Jaramillo Noriega, Rosa Lisbeth; Cárdenas Medina, Jorge Humberto Dr. Mg.The objective of this research was to analyze the sensory alterations in the older adult in relation to functional independence and balance, in a population of 40 older adults belonging to the Atahualpa Rural Parish GAD, of which 24 belong to the female sex and 16 to the male sex. Before the assessment, informative data was collected followed by sensory assessment of the senses of sight, smell, taste and touch to relate them to functional capacity using the Barthel and Lawton and Brody scales and for balance the scale of Tinetti to assess the risk of falls. The study is of an observational type because it has the objective of observing and recording the different reactions in the assessment and descriptive because the data was collected in each home and of a qualitative-quantitative type for data collection and analysis. The effects found in this study in the sensory evaluations were normal for the sense of sight chromatic assessment 85% and visual fields 95%, sense of taste 90%, sense of touch stereognosis 98% and graphesthesia 53% unlike smell obtained a low percentage of 25%. According to the Barthel scale, 55% obtained independence and the Lawton and Brody scale, 38% of men obtained autonomy and only 8% of women. xvi It was evidenced that aging produces changes due to age, gender and environment and if one fails the others will not fail because everything depends on several factors, it is important to stimulate the senses to achieve greater functional independence and balance. Mg.The present research is about the application of music therapy as essential role in the enhance of motor coordination and balance in intellectual disability athletes. For intervention protocol an initial evaluation was carry out by three test which allowed sort out athletes in high, medium and low difficulty levels. The intervention protocol was performed three times per week for increase scores and be effective in vulnerable patients. Research was done through an qualitative, field approach with a descriptive type level. The intervention was performed for eight weeks with ten intellectual disability athletes. At the participants was applied the music therapy with a metronome and music instruments were used in each exercise according to the intervention level, with motor coordination and balance basic exercise. In the final evaluation changes in cognitive, coordination and balance level was observed. This results can be applied in other populations and with greater number of participants. Mg.Down Syndrome (SD) is a chromosomal disorder caused by the additional presence of part or all of chromosome 21, which causes a series of physical, physiological and cognitive disorders in those who suffer from it. The vestibular and optokinetic system of the brain is affected, so one of the main features of this syndrome is the loss of balance and motor coordination. The main objective of this research was to determine the effects of the application of music therapy on motor coordination and balance in athletes with Down syndrome belonging to Special Olympics Ecuador from Quito. An intervention protocol was applied with a sample of six male athletes with Down syndrome, whose ages range between 15 and 42 years. During 8 weeks of intervention, 3 times for week and 60 minutes each one. An evaluation was made at the beginning and end of the intervention through the KTK Test, and Romberg Test. This intervention was based on a training program with neurological music therapy of 15 exercises distributed in three difficulty levels high, medium and low. The intervention with neurological music therapy during the 8 weeks of intervention produces positive results on evaluated variables, improving the motor coordination by an average of 12% and the balance by 17%.Item Efectividad de la musicoterapia como método de entrenamiento en el equilibrio del adulto mayor ambulatorio en la parroquia picaihua”(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Terapia Física, 2020-02-01) Ramón Cáceres, Raúl Alexander; Espín Pastor, Victoria Estefanía Lcda. Mg.The current study has been carried out with the aim to define a therapeutic exercise program based on music therapy for elders who present balance problems. The intervention was planned for 56 elders belonging to Picaihua Tungurahua, with an age above 60 years. From this group, 41 patients were female and the remaining 15 were male. The intervention used different exercise characteristics based on music therapy. The duration was 28 sessions, 3 times per week measured between 40 to 45 minutes each. The ability to maintain motor coordination, static and dynamic balance at the start and end of the intervention was evaluated through the application of two tests that facilitated the interpretation of the results. After the re-evaluation of the participants, it was established that the level of initial deterioration went from high risk of falls to medium risk of falls at the end. The implementation of exercises based on music therapy represents remarkable progress on balance, which symbolizes a lower risk of falls.
