For which an exploratory, descriptive and cross-sectional methodology was used that included 152 senior citizens who attend the alternative centers promoted by the MIES and Provincial Government of Tungurahua of the following sectors: San Fernando, Apatug, Izamba, Montalvo, Pinllo, Santa Rosa, Atahualpa, Huachi Grande considering that they are groups of high vulnerability. As instruments of data collection, the ICIQ-SF questionnaire was used to evaluate the UI regarding frequency, quantity and affectation and a history questionnaire for the characterization of the population. With the development of the research it was concluded that there is a high incidence of UI in the third age, since 74.3% suffers it. In addition, the most frequent type of incontinence is mixed, which is characterized by urgency and loss of urine before physical efforts. The main male risk factors were advanced age, prostate and female problems, BMI (overweight-obesity), advanced age, vaginal births and multiparity. In addition, it was determined that UI significantly affects the quality of life of the elderly as this situation more than causing an impact on hygiene limits the functionality of the sufferer.
