Item Comparación del efecto terapéutico del suero autólogo y el efecto epitelizante ocular en el tratamiento de úlceras corneales grado II en caninos braquiocefálicos.(2017) Acosta Lascano, Andrea Elizabeth; Lozada, EfraínThe objective of the present investigation was to compare the therapeutic effect of autologous serum and the ocular epithelizing effect in the treatment of grade II corneal ulcers in brachiocephalic canines. Twenty-four brachycephalic canines with different age, race and sex with grade II corneal ulcers were evaluated, this research was carried out in the facilities of Pet Healts Veterinary Clinic. The variables evaluated were T1 efficacy of serum autologous vs T2 commercial epithelizing and healing of grade II corneal ulcer, with the aid of a rule in millimeters (mm) while the treatment was progressing was measured by the progressive reduction of the size of the ulcer A randomized block design with two treatments and twelve replicates, in addition to an analysis of variance and Tukey's test, was used with the statistical program SAS 2000. Table 1 shows the healing time of the grade II corneal ulcer without (P = 0.8098) between treatments T1 and T2, however, we obtained numerical tendencies in the healing time, with better results in T1 than there was a significant difference (P <0.0150) with the other treatments, with T1 values 11,250a) and T2 (13,750b) respectively with two and a half days T1 healed faster than T2. As for the healing time and age of the patient there is a correlation, while the younger the animal the faster the closure of the Ulcer, as indicated in Figure 1 of the T1 that canines 1 year old on the day that healed the corneal ulcer was (8.91) days, while at 2 years cicatrize in (10.92) days, in 3 years (14.93) days, 4 years (14.93) days and in five years (16.9) days, in relation to Figure 2 of T2, there was a variation of 2 and a half days indicating that canines 1 year old healed in (12) days, 2 years (13) days, 3 years (14) days and 4 years (15 days) in relation to age and healing time. Based on the above, it is concluded that autologous serum is just as effective as an ocular epithelial and helps a rapid healing in grade II corneal ulcers.
