Item Conocimiento del riesgo obstétrico en mujeres embarazadas de la parroquia Izamba(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Enfermería, 2023-09-28) Herrera Ordoñez, Alexandra Valeria; Cusme Torres, Nadihezka AmandaCurrently, maternal health continues to be a problem in several countries and due to the prevalence of maternal-fetal mortality in Ecuador, it is important to know the obstetric risks in pregnant women. To determine the knowledge of obstetric risk in pregnant women in Izamba parish. This study was developed under a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, field study methodology with a simple random sample, whose population consisted of 20 pregnant women over 18 years of age to whom a structured survey with 11 questions was applied. 100% stated that the consumption of drugs and tobacco constitutes an obstetric risk factor for the health of the mother and the baby. According to 60%, blood pressure is also a risk factor; 65% indicated that ovarian cysts are not a gestational risk factor. Regarding diabetes mellitus and renal diseases as obstetric risk factors, the percentage of knowledge is 75% for each. Finally, 100% have stated that bleeding; uterine contractions prior to the delivery date; and pain when urinating, discomfort or blood in urine are alarm signs during the gestational stage. Through this study we have determined the importance of the knowledge that pregnant women have about obstetric risk factors during gestation, since habits, preexisting pathologies or alarm signs can cause physical discomfort to the mother such as anemia, fatigue, tachycardia, spontaneous abortions and in extreme cases mortality; while the baby can be born with low birth weight, intrauterine death, premature births, among others.
