Item Calidad y seguridad del paciente en el uso de electrolitos concentrados(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Enfermería, 2022-10-13) Santo De la Cruz, Luis Joel; Cantuñi Carpio, Verónica del PilarIntroduction: Concentrated electrolytes are high risk drugs for the patient that can cause death due to failure at the time of administration, therefore nursing staff is trained to provide safe and quality care. Objective: To determine the level of clinical knowledge in the management of concentrated electrolytes in the General Hospital Latacunga. Methods: The research was quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional. A survey entitled "Nursing clinical knowledge in the management of concentrated electrolytes" was applied to the sample population, which consisted of 91 nursing professionals working at the General Hospital Latacunga. Results: From the results obtained based on the "General knowledge of concentrated electrolytes", it was obtained that 62.6% have a high level of knowledge, in the "Knowledge of the process of use of concentrated electrolytes", it was obtained that 65.24% have a high level of knowledge, as for the "Knowledge of the safety of the administration of concentrated electrolytes", 61.94% have a high level of knowledge. Finally, in the "Knowledge of the conservation of concentrated electrolytes", 64.4% possess a medium level of knowledge. Conclusions: The level of knowledge of the nursing staff on the management of electrolytes is medium, since the quality and safety of the patient is affirmed at the time of administration of these high-risk drugs, however, the staff requires expanding their knowledge on the conservation of concentrated electrolytes.
