    Relación entre ansiedad, depresión y riesgo suicida en adolescentes del Ecuador

    Suicide is a social problem that affects the world population and is related to anxiety and depression, especially during adolescence. The aim of this study was to describe the suicidal risk in a sample of adolescents with factors associated with anxiety and depression. This is an observational, prospective, cross-sectional and analytical study; relational type, with the participation of 121 adolescents aged between 12 and 17 with a mean age of 15.65 and standard deviation of 2.030. The Suicide Orientation Inventory (ISO-30), the Beck Anxiety Questionnaire and the Kovacs Depression Questionnaire were used. Moderate suicidal risk was found in 52.9%; in relation to anxiety, 58.7% registered a low level, 25.6% moderate anxiety and 15.7% severe anxiety. For depression, 72.7% obtained severe levels, 19% mild, while 8.3% severe. A degree of association was determined between suicidal risk and anxiety (p= ,001 < 0.05) and absence of relationship between suicidal risk and depression (p > 0.05). Finally, it was concluded that the population studied had a moderate suicidal risk, moderate levels of anxiety and depression.
