    The use of non-pharmacological measures in early childhood is widely used especially in developing countries where access to health care is lacking and due to one's own beliefs and customs. Under this argument, the present investigation was carried out with the objective of describing the use of non-pharmacological measures that mothers perform in gastrointestinal disorders in children under 5 years of age in the El Galpón community of the Quisapincha parish. For which an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional methodology was used for the description and characterization of the behavior of the people under study. The research included 30 mothers of children under 5 years of age who frequently use non-pharmacological measures in cases of gastrointestinal disorders. As a method of data collection, a survey was used which was validated and whose Cronbach's alpha reliability test returned 0.95, valid to be applied. The questionnaire consists of 26 questions related to the most common gastrointestinal disorders and their frequency, in addition to the utility of non-pharmacological measures, frequency, time of effect and type of medicine (herbal, home, ancestral) most used. With the development of the research work it was concluded that the most frequent gastrointestinal symptoms are stomach pain (50%) and diarrhea (40%), for which 90% of mothers almost always use non-pharmacological measures, the types of which are Most used plants are chamomile (36.7%), good grass (20%). The part of the plant most used are flowers (50%) and leaves (40%), the mode of administration is infusion. The effects achieved with the administration of non-pharmacological measures in children under 5 years with gastrointestinal disorders are to relieve stomach pain (50%) and avoid diarrhea (40%).

    “Uso de plantas medicinales en mujeres gestantes y lactantes en el centro de salud materno infantil simón bolívar n°2 de la ciudad de Ambato”

    The present investigation is of descriptive type, prospective and transversal, which allowed the study of herbal medicine and its use in pregnant and lactating women, in order to determine the relationship between medicinal plants and their beliefs and traditions. The study was carried out in the Simón Bolívar Maternal and Child Health Center No. 2, in the area of outpatient consultation, emergency, delivery room and in the vaccination room in the period April-July 2018, with an assessment instrument that included 10 questions in the header to determine the sociodemographic characteristics, followed by 53 items with the most used plants and their frequency and 30 items of possible uses, the survey was conducted to 238 women (168 pregnant women and 70 infants). The results showed that 77% of the population has used medicinal plants for different causes, being the most common in pregnant women to eliminate or diminish the characteristic symptoms of the first trimester of pregnancy and to accelerate the labor of childbirth; Instead, the infants use them to heal the wounds produced by childbirth and for a greater production of breast milk: In the same way, the information obtained about the use of medicinal plants in pregnant women and infants in said population was transmitted mainly by the mother and grandmother

    It was a quantitative, observational, transectional and descriptive investigation carried out with the purpose of characterizing the use of medicinal plants as an analgesic-anti-inflammatory in the Pucara Chico Community, as well as the main benefits and the adverse reactions existing in them. For the collection of information, a questionnaire was prepared with eight open and closed questions, which were applied to 46 families that made up the entire population, finite and accessible to the researcher. The results show the daily use of plants with medicinal properties such as analgesic - anti - inflammatory, knowledge that has passed with the passing of the years. Being very common among its inhabitants orally in this case through the information technique of the infusion, having as main effect the relief and elimination of pain or inflammation completely. It should be noted that in addition to consuming preparations with these utilities rituals; that for a clean one it can cure the diseases of the soul like the son known by the community and the taita yachak.
