Mg.The present research work had as a question to know what is the effectiveness of the application of two therapeutic physical agents, the local cold and superficial heat, in combination with a program of eccentric exercises in patellar tendinopathy in acute phase, in amateur athletes. Currently there are reports that 50% of the active population have the risk of suffering tendinopathy due to overload of the knee joint, because of bad training habits, incorrect sports gesture, poor diet, like others. This injury is attributed to cause a lot of pain and functional disability, temporarily limiting the normal sports training. The focus of this investigation was correlational analytical descriptive, in which 9 amateur athletes of different sports athletes were evaluated and treated with a protocol designed by the researchers for two weeks, randomly distributed into three groups, one of them a control group. All of them with suspected clinical diagnosis of patellar tendinopathy in the acute phase, using only clinical tests, such as the London Royal Hospital test, the Blazina test and the VISA-SP questionnaire ("Victorian Institute of Sport Assessment-patellar") at the beginning and at the end of process. Establishing that the heat (27% recovery) is more effective than the cold application (21%), however the control group (no physical agent) obtained better results than the two previous groups (31%). The health professionals responsible for the management of patellar tendinopathy need to have the clinical knowledge, the necessary experience and the appropriate tools for a good diagnosis and treatment of this injury.
