(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2023-03-01) Masapanta Solís, Nayelly Micaela; Núñez Núñez, Alexis Mauricio Ps. Cl. Mg.
The relationship between attachment styles and coping strategies in university students was investigated; the sample consisted of 323 university students from Cotopaxi. Validated and standardized instruments were used for the evaluation of the variables, such as the Questionnaire of Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised ECR-R R adapted to the Ecuadorian population and the Coping Strategies Inventory CSI. The study has a descriptive-correlational scope, in terms of design it is a non-experimental and crosssectional study, also the sampling technique used was non-probabilistic by convenience with inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results showed that the anxious attachment style presented a low positive correlation with the eight coping strategies: problem solving (p 0.014), self-criticism (p < .001), emotional expression (p < .001), desiderative thinking (p < .001), social support (p < .001), and social support (p < .001). 001), social support (p 0.032), cognitive restructuring (p 0.015), problem avoidance (p < .001) and social withdrawal (p < .001); on the contrary, it is observed that the avoidant attachment style presents positive correlation only with self-criticism (p 0.036). Therefore, it is concluded that the greater the presence of anxious attachment, the higher the scores for the eight strategies described above, and likewise, the greater the presence of avoidant attachment, the higher the scores for self-criticism
