Hip arthroplasty has become a successful surgical procedure in orthopedic surgery worldwide. After the surgical procedure, the recovery of patients takes a considerable time. In this sense, the need to apply a hydrotherapy treatment plan based on the Halliwick technique to recover patients with hip arthroplasty is evident in improving their quality of life and making their recovery process shorter and more effective. This study aimed to apply a hydrotherapy treatment plan based on the Halliwick technique in the recovery of patients with hip arthroplasty. The research was an intervention type because the treatment plan was based on the Halliwick technique. It was applicative because of evaluation instruments such as the Modified Harris scales (Functional Status and Pain) and Tinetti (Gait and Balance). It was longitudinal because an initial and final assessment was conducted for reliable results. The intervention was carried out over 13 weeks in 7 phases: initial interview, signing of informed consent plus initial evaluations of the Modified Harris Scale and Tinetti Scale, socialization with the participants, adaptation to the pool plus stretching exercises, execution of the Hydrotherapy Treatment Plan based on the Halliwick technique, and final assessments of the Modified Harris and Tinetti. It was shown that by applying this technique, there was a shorter and more effective recovery, improved postural and gait control, essential aspects for the reintegration of functional mobility, and recovery of independence in daily activities.

EFECTOS DE LA HIDROTERAPIA EN PACIENTES CON OSTEOARTRITIS DE RODILLA
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-27) López Sailema, Christian Alexis; Cedeño Zamora, María Narciza
Knee osteoarthritis is a prevalent and disabling musculoskeletal condition that affects a large number of individuals worldwide, characterized by its degenerative nature causing a significant impact on the quality of life of those who suffer from it. The study aimed to determine the effects of hydrotherapy in patients with knee osteoarthri tis , carrying out a systematic review following the guidelines established by the PRISMA Statement, which included an exhaustive search of the scientific literature of the last 5 years in the following databases: PubMed, Scielo, PEDro and Google Scholar, clinica l trials and pilot studies, in English and Spanish that evaluated hydrotherapy as a treatment for patients with knee osteoarthritis were included. The results obtaine d showed significant beneficial effects in the reduction of pain, joint stiffness, function a l capacity and quality of life of patients. In this context, hydrotherapy is considered to represent an effective and safe therapeutic intervention for the management of knee osteoarthritis, complementing or potentially replacing conventional treatm e n t approaches.
