(2025-03-05) Rojas Narváez Damaris Gabriela; Velastegui Hernández Diana Catalina; Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica
Internet addiction is defined as a condition characterized by compulsive and excessive use of the Internet that interferes with the individual's daily life, on the other hand, depression is a mental disorder that is defined by the persistent state of sad mood and loss of interest. The present study aimed to determine the relationship between internet addiction (AI) and depression in a sample of 152 university students aged 18 to 30 belonging to a university in Ambato. A quantitative approach was used, with a design non-experimental, correlational type. The Internet Addiction Test and the Beck Depression Inventory (short version) were used. The results showed a moderate positive correlation between the variables, indicating that higher the level of Internet addiction correspond to greater presence of depressive symptoms. In addition, it was found that 49.3% of the young university students presented a normal level of IA, while that 20.4% had a moderate level. Regarding depression, 28.3% of the population showed moderate depression and 21.1% mild depression. Relevant differences were also found in IA levels, with men presenting higher scores compared to women.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2023-03-01) Espín Villena, Jonathan Josué; Ponce Delgado, Agueda del Rocío Dra. Mg.
The objective of this study is to identify the relationship between sleep quality indices and levels of dependence on video games in adolescents. The Pittsburgh sleep quality index (ICSP) and the videogame dependence test (TDV), were used in a school in Quero-Tungurahua. The results obtained by the Jamovi statistical system and Spearman's rho correlation test showed that there is a positive correlation between the scores of the variables sleep quality and dependence on video games (Rho 0.207, p <0.05), this finding that rates of poor sleep quality increase as the level of dependence on video games increases. 60.7% (n=91) of adolescents had good sleep quality and 76.7 (n=115) had low levels of dependence on video games, with men showing higher levels of video game addiction

The study aimed to determine if there is a significant relationship between levels of aggressiveness and levels of video game addiction in adolescents. The study had a quantitative, correlational, and cross-sectional approach, using a sample of 222 high school students, 119 men and 103 women from the "Villa Florida" Educational Unit in the city of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas - Ecuador. For the evaluation, two psychological instruments were applied: the Buss and PerryAggressiveness Questionnaire of the year 2002, which consists of 29 items, and the Spanish Internet Gaming Disorder Scale-Short-Form (IGDS9-SF) of the year 2020, of 9 items, both instruments They have a Likert scale for the answers. The data analysis was carried out with the SPSS statistical program through the Spearman's Rho test, the same one in which it was possible to determine that there is a significant correlation between the levels of aggressiveness and the levels of video game addiction (p<0.01). According to the data obtained through the evaluations, the levels of aggressiveness in adolescents are determined with a predominance in the middle levels with 33.3% and with high levels with 27.0% of high school students, so Consequently, regarding the levels of video game addiction, it is possible to determine low levels with 95.5% of the population, emphasizing that 0.9% have high levels of IGD, which means that there is a certain predisposition for adolescents to learn behaviors and normalize certain behaviors as evidenced in some video games, considering the advantages and disadvantages that the use of video games implies in adolescents.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2022-09-01) Paredes Rodríguez, Shirley Lisbeth; Gavilanes Gómez, Guillermo Daniel Psc. Mg.
In the order to determine the relationship between the risk of addiction to social networks and the Internet and social interaction skills, the scale of risk of addiction - adolescent to social networks and the Internet (ERA-RSI) and the questionnaire of social interaction skills (CHIS) were used, with the participation of 100 adolescents between the ages of 12 and 16 years from ‘La Providencia Educational Unit’, this sample was predominantly female. On the other hand, the methodology applied had a quantitative approach, since the data were studied statistically to know the corresponding correlation, so that through the Pearson test it was evidenced that the risk of addiction to social networks and internet has no relationship with the social interaction skills, also it could be known that no risk of addiction to social networks and internet is the level that dominates in this group, likewise in terms of the management of social interaction skills there is predominantly a moderate range; In addition, it was found that gender is not associated with the development of social skills. With the above, it was concluded that the technological boom that exists today accompanied by the use of social networks and the Internet does not represent a problem in the development of intrapersonal interaction in adolescents, but rather, if used properly, it can become a tool for new skills to evolve in the current context of socialization.

Parental socialization styles are the behaviors transmitted from parents to children and that shape their way of acting in certain situations; such as the incorrectly use of the internet that can cause significant impairments. The study aims to identify the relationship between the types of parental socialization styles and the risk of problematic internet use in teenagers. The research is quantitative, correlational scope, non-experimental design and cross-sectional. The population consists of 90 teenagers, 42 women and 48 men. The parental socialization styles Scale and the Problematic internet use Scale for adolescents were applied. The results show that there is no significant correlation between the two variables. It was found that the predominant parental style in the mother is the authoritative 42.50% and in the father the indulgent style 47.50%. In the problematic use of the internet, it was found that 42.33% presents a low risk and 56.70% a high risk. Regarding gender, it was determined that there are no significant differences in the problematic use of the internet. Therefore, there may be other determining aspects that can influence the problematic use of the internet.
