Item Implementación y evaluación del manual de bioseguridad en el laboratorio de microbiología del Hospital General Ambato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Centro de Posgrado, 2022-09-01) Soria Londo, Juan Pablo Lcdo.; Ramos Ramírez, Martha Cecilia BQF. MG.This research addresses the implementation and evaluation of the biosafety manual in the microbiology laboratory of the General Hospital of Ambato, because the institution did not have a manual establishing biosafety standards for the protection of laboratory personnel. In compliance with the main objective of implementing and evaluating the manual, a survey was conducted on the general concepts of biosafety standards, which allowed focusing on the relevant topics for the elaboration of the document. The results were evaluated by training 34 health professionals. Finally, a comparison of results was made, from the data obtained it was found that 46% had an average knowledge of biosafety standards which made the spread of pathogens in the environment of the microbiology area vulnerable, after the implementation there was a significant impact reaching 85% of the knowledge in the application of biosafety procedures, which was evidenced during the Covid 19 pandemic. According to the analysis carried out, it can be concluded that the application of biosafety policies in the laboratory allows guaranteeing the protection of human health and the risks associated with the environment.Item “Pruebas bioquímicas y hematológicas en la valoración de intoxicación por organofosforados en agricultores del cantón Píllaro”(Universidad Técnica de Ambato - Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud - Carrera de Laboratorio Clínico, 2018-04-01) Anchatipán Escobar, Juan Carlos; Vailati López, Juan Pablo Dr.Organophosphorus pesticides are chemical products that are used in an artisan way for plague control, in agricultural crops specially in potato crops, implying a high risk in people’s health who manipulate it directly, causing a decrease in the serum concentration of acetylcholinesterase and alterations in the liver function. The goal of this research is to determine the serum concentration of acetylcholinesterase in farmers exposed to Organophosphorus pesticides and to identify the possible variables that can alter the concentration of this enzyme; an experimental, predictive and bibliographic study was carried out, the study population were 40 farmers among men and women from canton of Píllaro, that were exposed directly with organophosphorus pesticides. For this study, the determination of serum the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, as well as liver enzymes, were performed by spectrophotometry techniques. It was determined that 7 out of 40 farmers exposed to organophosphorus pesticides showed a decrease in the concentration of the acetylcholinesterase enzyme representing 17.5% of the total study sample, a percentage that is not statistically significant according to the Student's t-test in relation to the total population, while in the determination of liver function enzymes no significant alterations were observed, it was also verified that the affected population had an exposure time between 11 and 31 years, as well as they were not aware of the biosecurity measures for the handling of this type of pesticides. Pesticides concluding that the decrease in acetylcholinesterase levels are directly influenced by the exposure time and the lack of knowledge of biosecurity measures in the handling of these pesticides.Item Evaluación de las Normas de Bioseguridad en las Áreas de Electroterapia de los Centros Asistenciales de Prácticas Pre-Profesionales de Formación Académica en Convenio con la Universidad Técnica de Ambato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud-Carrera Terapia Física, 2016-07-01) Ocaña Mora, Johanna Alexandra; Santamaría Santana, Gabriela Alexandra Lcda. This research question was to know if they meet biosafety standards in the areas of electrotherapy care centers teaching practices in agreement with the Technical University. Professional physiotherapy in the workplace are exposed to a number of occupational hazards which trigger diseases which in turn will be a limiting factor in the life of a professional, so the identification of these alterations help has safeguard health in you physiotherapists applying safety standards required for their workplace. It is a descriptive study - an observational with a qualitative approach was observed and surveyed 35 physiotherapists 15 centers Physical Therapy, to determine biosafety standards adopted by physiotherapists in the area electrotherapy, concluding that only 9% of the physiotherapists apply all standards established biosafety, and 91% of professionals partially apply.
