This research aims to determine the relationship between dissociative experiences and memory. Population of this project is the first semester students at Health Sciences Department of Technical University of Ambato, who will be the beneficiaries while the evaluation and results reflect specific needs of the population. Dissociative experiences are common psychological circumstances of every human being, ranging from normality to pathology. This may affect people normal performance. Dissociative Experiences Scale DES-II provides an overall result, with three subscales: dissociative amnesia, depersonalization and absorption or fantasy. On the other hand, memory is one of the most complex mental functions, because it forms person identity. Neuropsi is a neuropsychological battery that evaluates memory, working memory, encoding processes and evocation. For data analysis SPSS, a statistical software was used through the chi-square test and Fisher's exact test. It results there is no relationship between these two variables. Although, in Clinical Laboratory degree it exists a relationship between depersonalization DES-II scale and Neuropsi global memory scale and in Medicine degree there is also a relationship between depersonalization subscale of the DES-II and Neuropsi working memory subscale. Study of dissociation and its implications in memory generates contributions to ratify the hierarchy of dissociative experiences in psychiatry, psychology and psychotherapy. In addition, it identified the need to standardize both test to the Ecuadorian population.

Traumatic experiences have been part of diagnosis for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. It has awakened interest in the field of mental health, because of the consequences that cause health and cognition of individuals. However these studies in the population of Ambato, Tungurahua province, have low values. This study has taken a sample of victims exposed to traumatic situations (n = 45) obtained from experiences as a serious threat or harm to a family member or close friend, unexpected death of a family member or close friend, victims assault, physical abuse, rape, and others. For the evaluation, was applied a neuropsychological battery “Complex Figure Rey”, searching to evaluate memory, and can identify if there is relationship between memory and traumatic experiences of victims (SAPAVT -T). In this application adds a test that follow to evaluate the presence of traumatic experiences and identify the presence of symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, through Traumatic Questionnaire (TQ). In this population was researched the characteristics in age between 18 to 60 years old, male or female. The results show the presence of symptoms of PTSD in all population and it varied in between the level of involvement. In the application neuropsychological there are not significant differences (p>0.005) in memory of people with traumatic experiences. Generally the evaluation showed lower, normal or upper levels of memory in people with traumatic experiences with different damage levels: severe, moderate or minor, so is recommended new studies with representative samples to identify the specific cogniti ve effects that could derive from such traumatic experiences.
