Item Correlación entre el CBR, DCP, propiedades índice y mecánicas en suelos de la parroquia Poaló del cantón Latacunga, provincia de Cotopaxi(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-08) Soria Guzman, Romel Stalyn; Aldás Sánchez, Milton RodrigoThe parish of San José de Poaló, being in the rural area of the Latacunga canton, province of Cotopaxi, has a low development in the road infrastructure, having roads in very poor condition of the asphalt folder or need improvement since they are ballast or paved, which the inhabitants of the area, being mostly farmers and ranchers, find it difficult to transport their products for sale. The experimental work consisted of locating in the area of the parish the most representative roads which cover a large part of it, where 4 third-order roads were established where a total of 12 samples of 50 kg were extracted, later at each point the DCP and field density tests were carried out. In the laboratory, through the use of the necessary equipment and tools, the properties of the index and mechanical soils were determined, as well as the Modified Proctor and CBR to expand the database of the correlations of the soils in the area using simple and multiple correlation methods, in addition to the aforementioned results, they were used in the design of a flexible pavement following the AASTHO 93 standard. As results, 20 simple and multiple correlations were obtained where they had a coefficient of determination greater than 50 percent, being accepted, later with the use of the free software AASHTO 93, the thicknesses were calculated obtaining: 7.50 cm asphalt layer, 15 cm base, 20 cm subbase.Item Diseño de la estructura del pavimento flexible de la vía Pacto - El Paraíso, perteneciente a la parroquia rural Pacto, distrito metropolitano de Quito(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-03) Martínez Camacho, Enrique Ignacio; Pérez Maldonado, Ruth LorenaIn the present study, the vehicle count was carried out for the determination of the TPDA manually, this vehicle analysis was carried out for 7 consecutive days, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a total of 12 hours, counting the cars in intervals of 15 minutes, from September 20 to 26, 2021, values that were calculated for current vehicular traffic and projected twenty years. Soil studies were carried out, with the extraction of ten altered samples that later, with care not to disturb the moisture content, the required tests were carried out in the laboratory with the aim of obtaining the granulometry, the limits of Atterberg that contains the liquid limit, plastic limit and plastic index, Modified Proctor and California Support Ratio (CBR) of the subgrade, by means of the AASHTO-93 regulation it was possible to calculate and know the thickness of the optimal asphalt structure for the volume of raised traffic for a design period of two decades. The structure of the flexible pavement was designed to determine the thickness of the sub-base and base from the rural parish of Pacto to the El Paraíso community, minimizing the detrimental impacts of urbanization processes in order to establish activity areas capable of transforming their economy in a sustainable way, favoring public and private transport, focused on strengthening the parish through tourism incentives and the conservation of flora and fauna. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-08) Quinatoa Yánez, Fabricio Saul; Aldas Sanchez, Milton RodrigoThis project focuses on the geometric and structural design of a road in the rural neighborhood of Rumipamba de Navas, Salcedo canton, Ecuador. The need for this project arises from the poor current condition of the road, which does not comply with the widths and requirements established by current Ecuadorian road standards. This situation limits the mobility of the inhabitants and the accessibility to the sector. For the geometric design of the road, a complete topographic study was carried out, thus determining the orographic characteristics and the extension of the project. Additionally, a traffic study projected for 20 years was carried out, allowing the geometric characteristics of the road to be established, such as road width, curvature radii and slopes. Regarding the structural design of the flexible pavement, soil tests were carried out, the AASHTO 93 method was used to determine the optimal structure of the wearing layer, guaranteeing adequate resistance and durability of the pavement against the expected vehicular loads. Finally, a price analysis was carried out to determine a reference budget and estimate the investment required for the project. The design of this new road in the Rumipamba de Navas rural neighborhood will improve the mobility of the inhabitants and the accessibility to the sector. The project has been developed following current Ecuadorian road regulations. Obtaining as a result a future TPDA of 726 vehicles per day, a 10 m wide road including shoulders and ditches, finally the final structure of this consists of 15 cm of subbase, 15 cm of base and 5 cm of wearing layer.
