Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2020) Chicaiza Carchi, Darío Bolívar; Acosta Lozada, Rodrigo IvánIn the present study of the Patate-Baños alternate track at km 2 + 350 to km 4 + 700, the processes to determine the state and conservation of the structure of the rolling layer, which is located in the province of Tungurahua, Cantón Patate. To begin the development of this experimental project, a topographic survey was first carried out which provided the recognition of the section of the road, to obtain detailed information on the same in terms of width, the existence of roadside ditches, lane width and Everything related to the physical part (Topography), then the number of vehicles that travel on the road for a full week for 12 hours per day was counted and thus determine the Annual Daily Average Transit (TPDA). With the topographic survey information, the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) test was continued, in addition to the Benkelman Beam test, the results of these tests allowed to obtain the current road conditions, both surface and structural, and to corroborate the results, the soil tests (CBR) were carried out, which also include the liquid limit and plastic limit tests that helped provide the type of soil and its mechanical characteristics, and finally, establish the types of damage to the track and whether or not it is necessary to implement a maintenance plan
