This experimental project analyzed the effect of sugarcane bagasse ash (CBCA) on the properties and mechanical behavior of different types of soils, with the objective of finding sustainable alternatives in soil stabilization through the use of CBCA, thus reducing the waste generated in the sugar industry. Soil stabilization is of utmost importance because all engineering works are supported on the soil, which must comply with minimum parameters that allow building on them. In order to determine the effect of CBCA on the index and mechanical properties of the soil, laboratory tests were carried out on soil samples in their natural state and soil samples with the addition of CBCA at 15, 20 and 25 percent. The results of the granulometry and Atterberg limits tests showed that the soil samples correspond to SM and CL soils, and the results of the Modified Proctor and California Bearing Ratio (CBR) tests revealed that: the inclusion of CBCA causes a decrease in dry density, an increase in moisture content and CBR, with the addition of 25.00 percent of CBCA in a SM soil the CBR value increases by 93.18 percent, for a CL soil with the addition of 19.00 percent of CBCA the CBR value increases by 40.00 percent. Consequently, the results of this research can be used as a starting point in the search for sustainable alternatives in soil stabilization.
