Item Efecto de adición de partículas de plástico reciclado en las propiedades físico-mecánicas de pavimento(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-09) Vargas Guevara, Alex Javier; López Arboleda, Alex GustavoThe main purpose of this experimental investigation is to compare an asphalt mixture with the addition of recycled plastic particles from bottles, without cap or label, with a flake size of 0.30 mm in diameter and the traditional asphalt mixture. By means of the Marshall design for Asphalt Bituminous Mixes according to AASHTO T245, ASTM D 1559, AASHTO T225 standards, in order to analyze the results obtained in the laboratory of the Municipality of Ambato. The recycled plastic particles were added to the previously screened hot mix asphalt, with which the physical and mechanical characteristics of 15, 20 and 25 percent modified asphalt were determined. Previous tests were carried out on the stone aggregates from the quarry owned by Constructora Alvarado CÍA LTDA, indicating optimum values. The specific characteristics of the traditional asphalt mix comply with the parameters according to the MOP-2002 in optimum stability of 1650 pounds, vacuum ratio 4 percent and flow of 11 inches for Marshall method; the optimum bitumen content for the stone aggregates was 6.5 percent bitumen. Once the different addition percentages were performed, the 15 percent recycled plastic percentage determined an optimum stability of 4220 pounds, 4 percent vacuum ratio and flow or deformation of 14 inches for heavy traffic. These values are equivalent to the optimum percentage meeting Marshall's mechanical specifications
