Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2024-02) Muzo Chico, Danny Alejandro; Córdova Acosta, Christian Alexander; Peña Jordán, Francisco AgustínThere is a notable deficiency in accurate data and analysis concerning thick-walled structural sections, particularly those of the UV cross-section. There are studies on thin-walled cold-formed steels, there is a gap in structural engineering knowledge due to the lack of studies performed in the thick-walled environment and the lack of material models specifically designed for cold-formed UV cross-sections using A572 steel. The experimental work started using the cold forming process of a structural profile of UV cross section of ASTM A572 gr 50 steel with thicknesses of 6 mm and 8 mm, which by water jet cutting, standardized specimens were extracted to perform tensile, micrographic and hardness tests, which are performed under ASTM E8, ASTM E112, ASTM E18 standards, respectively. Data were collected from each test and their mechanical behavior was analyzed. Several comparisons were made between the results of curved specimens and flat specimens of each thickness, thus identifying the variations in their mechanical properties. The hardness tests indicate the zone of affectation being 1.6t, in addition to the affectation of the cold forming process. As a result, the tests performed yielded data on the microstructural behavior of ASTM A572 steel in the cold forming process, as well as its mechanical properties, which will be useful for the support of technical reports.Item Evaluación de las vías urbanas en el cantón Ambato del sector comprendido entre la calle Sócrates, av. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-07) Pérez Usca, Luis Alberto; Aldas Sánchez, Milton RodrigoOne of the problems of the country's municipalities is not having updated information on the state of roads, so the Municipality of Ambato decided to carry out this macroproject in conjunction with the Technical University of Ambato through the Civil Engineering Career, in order to solve the problem it was decided to conduct a road diagnosis of the urban roads of the canton. In the present project, the evaluation of the road condition was carried out specifically in the sector between Socrates Street, Galo Vela Alvarez Avenue, Marco Tulio Cicero Street, Real Audiencia de Quito Avenue, belonging to the Ambato canton. With the use of cards based on the ASTM D6433-07 standard and together with specialized tools, the survey of each of the existing faults in the roads was carried out, and with the help of georeferencing software, each of the faults was represented with informative data such as dimensions, type of fault, degree of severity, photographic evidence and location of the fault. A Pavement Condition Index (PCI) was also performed to determine the condition of the main avenues in the project area, such as Galo Vela Avenue and Real Audiencia Avenue, and then a reference budget was established for their repair. At the end of the road evaluation project of the urban areas of Ambato, a database was delivered to the Municipality of Ambato so that it can be used for the benefit of the community.Item Rediseño geométrico y del pavimento de los tramos “Y” de Guarag-La Playa, La Playa-Capilla Pungo, estadio La Playa, con una longitud de 4.65 km, perteneciente al cantón Pujilí de la provincia de Cotopaxi(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-01) Chimborazo Bungacho, Erika Vanesa; Bayas Altamirano, Myriam MarisolDue to the viability conditions in the sector, the need arises to carry out a geometric and pavement redesign to improve communication and the standard of living of the inhabitants. The topographic survey was carried out by means of an RTK equipment and a Drone through the mountainous terrain, having 3 sections of road called "Y" de Guarag-La Playa with a length of 3+115.44 km, La Playa-Capilla Pungo 1+103.45 km and Estadio La Playa with 0+341.39 km. Through soil studies and according to the classification of the SUCS standard, the type of soil that predominates is MS (silty sands) and according to the AASHTO standard, it is A-4 (silty soils). When designing a low-volume paved road, there is a design period of 20 years, with a TPDA of 569 vehicles in both directions, classifying it as a Class III Collector. The MTOP 2003 specifications were used for the geometric design and drainage works. For the design of pavements, the AASHTO 93 method was increased, obtaining thicknesses of 5 cm for asphalt layer, granular base of 15 cm and granular subbase of 25 cm. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2021-09) Sánchez Chancusig, Silvia Paulina; Frías Torres, Alex XavierThe present experimental work aims to find different correlations between the index and mechanical properties of soils belonging to the parishes of Ulba and Río Verde of the Baños de Agua Santa canton of the province of Tungurahua. To start the investigation, 12 soil samples were extracted from the four routes considered in the project. To obtain these values to be implemented in the process of correlation between the index and mechanical properties of the soils, both field and laboratory tests have been carried out in compliance with the different regulations established by AASHTO, ASTM and INEN for the execution in each study. After the evaluation and analysis process, the SUCS and AASHTO soil classification were determined, as the characteristics of each of the sample’s values, with which a total of 24 correlations were reached that exceed a coefficient of determination of 50 per cent, considering them as acceptable. Once the values of the laboratory soil support capacity (CBR) are known, such as that obtained by property correlation, we proceed to the design of the flexible pavement appreciating that the thicknesses of each layer are equivalent for each design. Because of the similarity between the CBR lab and CBR correlation.Item Estudio experimental de conectores de corte en la unión losa LOSA DECK - VIGA ACERO(2021-03) Alava Apráez, Esteban Gregorio; Navarro Peñaherrera, Carlos PatricioThe present research work was developed through the use of different types of cutting connectors the same ones that were selected by the characteristics they possess, the capacity of effort and due to the use within the execution of works. The ones selected for the development of the research work were rod type, screw type, stud type and channel type, which are applied for purposes such as preventing horizontal sliding or vertical separations between the beam and steed. These samples were made following the AISC and ACI standards. The samples taken were by the distribution of prototypes according to a certain number and space where the shear connectors present their characteristics to the required tests in order to analyze the influence of the shear connectors on the union of the metal beam and deck slab. When conducting the test in the universal compression machine, it was determined that the first failures appear regularly in the supports and bending points of the beam. The fissures appeared on the edges of the prototypes, due to the concentration of force in the center of the prototype.Item Caracterización de las propiedades mecánicas del material híbrido utilizando matriz epóxica reforzada con tejido de fibra vegetal de algodón y fibra natural de abacá(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2017) Benavides Salinas, Geovanny Santiago; Paredes Salinas, Juan GilbertoThis experimental research is based on the characterization of the hybrid material of epoxy matrix reinforced with layers of structured woven of abaca fibers and cotton in different orientations and with varied volumetric fractions, the purpose of the study is to obtain the best characterization of the material containing the best mechanical properties. In this work the stratification process was used for compression to obtain the hybrid material, it was to establish the definitive percentage volumetric fractions of reinforcements, material thickness and number of layers of reinforcement of woven. Of all the characterizations made determined group of specimens that exhibits the best mechanical properties tests standardized under the ASTM standards. (ASTM D3039-00 traction, flexion ASTM D7264-07 and impact ASTM D5628-10). The analysis of three types of trials determined that the hybrid material presented better mechanical properties corresponds to the case 3 which has a volumetric fraction of 75% resin Epoxy (matrix), 18.25% abaca fiber and 6.75 percent cotton (reinforcements).
