The evaluation of the Cuicuno neighborhood treatment plant is necessary because the WWTP presents an evident deterioration of the infrastructure, lack of functionality and odor problems, this is a fundamental process to ensure its operational efficiency, regulatory compliance and environmental sustainability. This periodic review will make it possible to identify areas for improvement, optimize processes and guarantee the quality of the treated effluent before it is discharged into the environment. The evaluation began with a detailed analysis of the plant and its infrastructure, including a review of the treatment equipment and systems that make up the WWTP, such as sand traps, biological filters, and septic tanks. Treatment capacity was evaluated based on current and projected demand to ensure that the plant is adequately sized. In addition, the efficiency of the treatment process was analyzed by measuring key parameters, laboratory tests and online monitoring are carried out to assess the performance of the WWTP. The assessment also included an analysis of compliance with local and national environmental standards and regulations. Compliance with various parameters such as BOD, COD, pH and heavy metals were obtained within the results, these results ensure that the effluent does not cause negative impacts on the receiving environment. In conclusion, it was possible to corroborate that the WWTP does work, but only partially. The results of the assessment will provide a roadmap for implementing improvements, ensuring that the plant continues to be a vital part of protecting the environment and public health.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-03) Barros Manotoa, Klever Leonardo; Morales Fiallos, Fabián Rodrigo
An inadequate operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (PTAR) of the Andahualo community, in the Píllaro canton, causes the environment where the treated water is discharged to become contaminated, putting public health at risk and affecting the flora and fauna. fauna of the sector, it is for this reason that in the present experimental work the operation of the installation was evaluated, to determine if the WWTP purifies the residual water in optimal conditions. Through documentary research, the current status of the WWTP was verified and through field work, the inlet and outlet flow were measured for a month, additionally, samples of residual water from the influent and effluent were taken and sent to a qualified laboratory. For the analysis of the physical-chemical parameters of said samples, the results obtained were compared with the TULSMA 2015 standard. In addition, a technical diagnosis of each stage of treatment of the plant was made, which includes screening grid, sand remover, UASB reactor, upflow biological filters and sludge drying, which made it possible to verify that the treatment plant is in optimal conditions to treat wastewater from the sector. Finally, recommendations were proposed that will allow the plant to improve its operation.

In order to determine whether the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of the Quisapincha parish is currently working properly or whether its efficiency in the removal of pollutants has been reduced over the years, a survey of information was carried out to measure the units of the treatment train, the volumetric capacity of the plant's inlet and outlet tanks, the analysis of physical-chemical parameters in the laboratory and the technical diagnosis of each process. The operation of the plant's unit processes was evaluated, which are: Screening, sedimentation and flow sharing tank, biological filter of “lechuguines”, upflow anaerobic filter and sludge drying tank, demonstrating that they work correctly in comparison with guides and manuals for the design of treatment plants; and the outflow affluent complies with the TULSMA standard for discharges into freshwater bodies. After analyzing the information, it was concluded that it is not necessary to implement new processes within the WWTP; however, recommendations were proposed for the system to work better.

This experimental work is based on the evaluation of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of the Mochapata community, to determine if the treated water that is discharged into the Mocha River complies with the TULSMA 2015 standard. For this, it began with a survey of information, such as: location, socioeconomic activities of the population and a diagnosis of the treatment units; a field investigation was carried out, where the measurement of the influent and effluent flows was carried out, also a sampling of the residual water inlet and outlet of the WWTP for its subsequent laboratory analysis of its physical and chemical properties. Once the analysis has been carried out, the results obtained are compared with the discharge limits to freshwater, established by the TULSMA standard, where it was determined that six of the ten parameters analyzed do not comply with the regulations, including: oils and fats, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), chemical oxygen demand (COD), suspended solids, surfactants, and fecal coliforms. For this reason, it is necessary to look for an alternative to comply with the limits mentioned. The current treatment train was evaluated and, since it did not obtain an acceptable efficiency in the removal of contaminants, it was necessary to propose a new treatment train that guarantees the removal of contaminants below the permissible limits, it is composed of screens, grease trap, septic tank, trickling filter, sludge drying bed and artificial wetland.

The purpose of this experimental work is to evaluate the WWTP of the Luis López community through an analysis of wastewater based on the TULSMA 2015 Standard, due to the need to determine if its effluent complies with the discharge limits in fresh water bodies. For the evaluation of the WWTP, it began with a survey of information on the current condition, later measurement of the influent and effluent flows was carried out for 7 days to determine the maximum flow. Also it proceeded a diagnosis of their treatment units. Once the maximum flow was obtained, the samples of water of the treatment plant were taken to send them to a certified laboratory to carry out their respective physical-chemical analysis. In the evaluation of the Treatment Plant, the sizing of each of the units was carried out to compare them with the calculated dimensions, it was found that the Anaerobic Filter does not comply with the sizing according to the standard, the evaluation also contemplates a comparison of the results obtained in the laboratory with the maximum permissible limits of the TULSMA 2015 Standard. It was observed that all the parameters comply. Once all the information has been processed, it is proposed to implement a sand trap and increase the Anaerobic Filter section. To complement the improvement proposal, an operation and maintenance plan was detailed for the optimal performance of the hydraulic structures

In the present experimental work, its main objective is to evaluate the operation and functioning of the unit processes of the Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Zona Libre community, which serves approximately 295 people; The purpose of the study is to determine whether it actually complies with the parameters required by current environmental regulations (TULSMA). In the research, gauges were first developed for 7 consecutive days to determine the current flow into and out of the plant; consecutively, wastewater samples were sent to the laboratory to analyze its physical and chemical characteristics. The evaluation of the plant consisted in the dimensioning of the treatment units until the present year (2021), for this the data obtained in the field and laboratory were used, concluding that the current geometry in each treatment unit is similar to that obtained theoretically. With the exception of the FAFA, which does not have the adequate volume for the filter medium to reduce the pollutant load of the wastewater. In addition, the WWTP in general achieves low removal efficiency percentages: BOD with 1.93 percent and COD with 0.47 percent Once all the aforementioned information has been processed, it is proposed to incorporate a new treatment process and an operation and maintenance manual, which aims to contribute to the improvement of the operation of the units.
