    This experimental project is part of the macro project to analyze 20 km of the Ambato river that crosses the city of the same name. In this work, the data from the Tilulún Hydrological station with a record of 17 years were used to process them, excluding outliers using the Chauvenet criterion and then applying the Gumbel method in projecting the flood flow for the return periods of 5 , 10, 25, 50, 100 and 140 years, based on the recommendations of the NEVI-12-MTOP Regulation Volume N ° 2 - Book B, the topography of the project was generated based on the elevation models and ortho-photos available from In the city of Ambato that were provided by the Honorable Provincial Government of Tungurahua, the runoff coefficients were determined by means of a field survey guided by the manual of the United States Hydrological Engineering Center for the HEC-RAS software, a program that entered and calibrated all the information collected to generate a flood model for a flow of 115.78 m3 / s, which is presented in plans for the analysis of the areas q They can be affected by the level of the flow or its speed and recommendations are given for the construction of structures at safe distances.

    Diseño y construcción de una mini turbina tipo tornillo de Arquímedes para ser instalada en canales primarios abiertos y generar energía mecánica

    Using the data obtained in the channel, the mechanical and hydraulic design of the mini screw-type turbine of archimedes was carried out, for which it was of great need to use several documents of previous works on the subject, however, the most relevant document was "Design of a hydraulic turbine based on the screw of Archimedes", which is a thesis made by Julio Cesar Alberto Mejía. Most of the screw was made with A36 steel, except for the axle, and the bearings, these materials were not manufactured, but only purchased on the market. An optimal design was carried out for which the measurements of the channel, the weight of the structure, its assembly and transport were taken into account. It was determined that the construction of the turbine should have a length of 3 meters, a width of 2 meters and a height of 1 meter, with the tests the revolutions delivered by the mini turbine were measured, resulting in values between 125 and 160 rpm. Finally, taking into account all the tests, it was noted that at the exit of the ovals, a greater water velocity is obtained.
