In this project, the treatment plant of the Hualcanga Santa Anita Community does not supply the entire sector due to population growth, and in the same way there is a deterioration of the treatment plant, which has affected the quality of life of the inhabitants of the sector. To meet the objective, relevant information for the project was collected, such as; topographical survey of the wells and pipe networks, in addition to this a population census was carried out to determine population growth, physical sanitary infrastructure, and laboratory tests to determine the functionality of the treatment plant. A redesign was carried out with the specifications of the TULSMA 2015 standard, and in addition to this, a grease trap and an artificial wetland were added in order to improve the WWTP process; In the same way, a sanitary hydraulic design of the sewage system was prepared, which complies with the regulations, making it more efficient, due to the fact that the concrete pipes were changed to PVC, and new branches were increased to supply more families in the community. The results obtained in the project showed that it is necessary to carry out maintenance of the treatment plant in the sector.

This experimental work is based on the evaluation of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of the Mochapata community, to determine if the treated water that is discharged into the Mocha River complies with the TULSMA 2015 standard. For this, it began with a survey of information, such as: location, socioeconomic activities of the population and a diagnosis of the treatment units; a field investigation was carried out, where the measurement of the influent and effluent flows was carried out, also a sampling of the residual water inlet and outlet of the WWTP for its subsequent laboratory analysis of its physical and chemical properties. Once the analysis has been carried out, the results obtained are compared with the discharge limits to freshwater, established by the TULSMA standard, where it was determined that six of the ten parameters analyzed do not comply with the regulations, including: oils and fats, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), chemical oxygen demand (COD), suspended solids, surfactants, and fecal coliforms. For this reason, it is necessary to look for an alternative to comply with the limits mentioned. The current treatment train was evaluated and, since it did not obtain an acceptable efficiency in the removal of contaminants, it was necessary to propose a new treatment train that guarantees the removal of contaminants below the permissible limits, it is composed of screens, grease trap, septic tank, trickling filter, sludge drying bed and artificial wetland.

This technical project consists of improving the sanitation and wastewater treatment system in the community of El Santuario, Quero canton, Tungurahua province, deteriorated by population growth and lack of maintenance over the years, which has altered the quality of life of its inhabitants and the incorrect use of the resource for agricultural irrigation. To this end, the basic information for the project was collected, consisting of a topographic survey of the pipe networks and sewerage wells, a population census, inspection of the physical sanitary infrastructure, flow measurement campaigns, and wastewater characterization. The purpose was to verify the hydraulic capacity of the collection network and the efficiency of the current processes and unit operations for wastewater treatment, which are: septic tank, FAFA and sludge drying bed. The results showed that four pipe network sections do not conform to the design parameters (slope and velocity limits); in addition, the current treatment train does not generate an effluent of the required quality for treated water intended for agricultural reuse specified in the TULSMA 2015 standard and the FAO guide, so the redesign of the collection networks that present drawbacks was carried out, and the incorporation of new treatment processes such as: screening, desander, grease trap, trickling filter, secondary sedimenter and artificial wetland, in addition to the improvement of existing units.
