Item Análisis comparativo de una estructura habitacional con diagonales excéntricas y una estructura sin diagonales excéntricas, ante una solicitación sísmica(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Maestría en Ingeniería Civil con Mención en Estructuras Metálicas, 2022-09) Salazar Gamboa, Alvaro Napoleón; Frías Torres, Alex XavierThe main objective of this research work was the comparative analysis of a housing structure under seismic stress, taking as a reference point the urban area of Ambato, capital city of the province of Tungurahua, where the building under study is located. A specialized software was used for the modeling and design of the structure, as well as the guidelines of the Ecuadorian construction standard NEC-SE-DS 2015 and ANSI/AISC 360 and 341, respectively. The results obtained were satisfactory with respect to drifts and deflections, according to the configuration in columns, beams and diagonals it was not necessary to redesign the sections of the structural elements. Regarding the analysis, it should be noted that both the structure without eccentric braced frame and the structure with eccentric braced frame obtained an adequate behavior, with drifts of less than 2 percent that comply with the stipulations of the standard, but a notable difference was evidenced in the sections of both columns and beams, obtaining a 45.88 percent reduction in the weight of the structural elements. In the structure with eccentric braced frame, the drifts were maintained within the established limits for this typology according to the NEC with the inclusion of some diagonals, which helped to improve the behavior, reducing considerably the different sections of the structural elements, thus lightening the structure, achieving a balance and avoiding torsional effects in the floor plan, as well as allowing compliance with the maximum floor drifts that limit seismic damage. It was concluded that the structure with eccentric braced frame presents a better lateral resistance to the action of an earthquake due to the addition of the diagonals, which are responsible for redistributing the lateral forces within the building, lightening the structure and considerably reducing the weight of the elements and the consumption of materials.Item Análisis del nivel de daño para diferentes niveles de peligro sísmico en elementos sometidos a flexión y compresión para una estructura típica de hormigón armado(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-01) Navarrete López, Pablo Andres; Navarro Peñaherrera, Carlos PatricioOne of the methodologies presented by the Vision 2000 Committee presents the different performance objectives and those proposed by the Ecuadorian Construction Standard NEC 2015, with the objective of verifying the performance level of a structure through nonlinear analysis. For the analysis of the structure we used the most relevant parameters such as irregularity of plan and elevation, structural system and soil type. With all the information obtained from the structure and the different methodologies, the linear and nonlinear analysis was performed to verify the fundamental parameters of the structure and the different structural elements, which comply with the specifications of the standard. With the results of the two methodologies applied in the analysis, the performance level of the structure was verified according to the objectives present in the Vision 2000 and related to the performance levels present in the Ecuadorian Construction Standard, with which it was established that the typical reinforced concrete structure does not meet the objectives and presents serious seismic vulnerability problems. Finally, a classification of the cracking in the elements subjected to bending and compression in a general way present in a structure was made by compiling information obtained from previous studies and comparing them with the results obtained in the linear and nonlinear analysis of the structure.Item Análisis estructural del desempeño sísmico del edificio del Hospital Veterinario de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato, mediante la medición de vibraciones(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2021-09) Barrera Moreno, Erik Alexander; Ureña Aguirre, Maritza ElizabethTwo methods were used in this document, qualitative and quantitative, for the first, Rapid Visual Screening (RVS) is performed according to FEMA 154, supported by the NEC 2015, where it was determined that the structure has a high degree of vulnerability to earthquakes due to a pathological problem of short column generating a very severe irregularity in elevation. On the other hand, for the quantitative method, the non-linear static analysis is performed by means of the Etabs software. With the information obtained on site, two models were carried out, the spectral modal analysis of which the linear behavior of the structure, vibration periods, basal shear and floor drifts were analyzed, as well as the non-linear static analysis the structure capacity curve for X and Y, the performance point of said structure was also determined. The analysis determined the most appropriate method for the local reinforcement of some beams and columns of the structure, being the metal encasing with angles and plates the most practical and economical, a method that considerably increases the capacity of the structural elements to withstand the forces applied on them. In this way, it was possible to give the necessary capacity to all the components of the structure without altering the excellent global behavior of the building, thus meeting the performance expected for the building
