Item Estudio de la aplicabilidad de tintas penetrantes no convencionales en la inspección de juntas soldadas para la detección de discontinuidades superficiales - AWS D1.1(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2023-08) Aguilar Sisa, Paúl Fernando; Paredes Salinas, Juan GilbertoThis project was carried out in order to determine the best combination of nonconventional penetrating inks, which have maximum applicability in the inspection of welded joints for the detection of surface discontinuities according to the AWS D1.1 code. In the methodological field, the equipment used for the experiment process is detailed, through an exploratory, descriptive and bibliographic level, allowing to define the processes based on the penetrating properties that the combinations have, based on their benefit, for which choose oils such as Sunflower and Johnson and dye such as blackberry, beetroot and achiote, in a limited time of 5 and 10 minutes, according to the specialized software. The experiment was given, through the use of unconventional inks elaborated, continuing with the evaluation in a data record, which is compared with the evaluation of conventional inks where the adequate registration was given, ending with the comparison between both results. Finally, the unconventional combinations were compared with the standardized inks, where the cracks, lack of fusion, craters, profiles, nominal sizes, undercuts and pores were visualized, where the combinations 4, 7 have the best results. , 8 and 11, which is obtained from the fusion between sunflower-annatto, as well as the Johnson-annatto mixture for 5 and 10 minutes respectively and the tabulations of the fully defined discontinuities were made, evaluating their applicability in each one of them they. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-08) Andrade Álvarez, Karen Paola; Paredes Beltrán, Bolívar EduardoIn the field of civil engineering, the filtering capacity of stone materials is of vital importance for the design and construction of efficient drainage works. The experimental work focused on investigating the permeability of the aggregates from the Llagchoa/Salvador Beach Quarry, located in the Tungurahua province. A survey of documentary information on the quarry was carried out and representative samples were collected for laboratory tests. Different tests were carried out to evaluate the physical properties, such as moisture content, Atterberg limits and granulometric analysis. Subsequently, by using a drainage permeameter with the constant head method, the permeability coefficient of each type of soil (gravel, sand, and silt) was obtained. The results indicated that the aggregates had a medium to high filtration capacity, with silt having the lowest permeability. Finally, the optimal drainage combination was sought, to estimate the filtration capacity of the soil, resulting in the most appropriate with a permeability coefficient of 4.06x10 raised to at least 2 (m/s) being the same permeable which makes it suitable for use in civil engineering projects related to drainage. This study provides valuable information for the design and construction of effective drainage systems, thus contributing to the development of more resistant and sustainable infrastructures, being useful for professionals in the field of engineering and for those interested in improving water management in civil works.
