    Diseño de un sistema de abastecimiento de energía eléctrica con el uso de energías alternativas como la hidráulica en viviendas unifamiliares en la parroquia de Montalvo del cantón Ambato, provincia de Tungurahua

    The main objective of the work is to provide an optimal and safe design of a totally sustainable and environmentally friendly hydraulic generation system, adjusting to the energy needs of the area under study, taking advantage of modern technology for the generation of clean electricity at a lower cost. In the first instance, the energy consumption of the houses located within the study area was determined, as well as the flow of the “Canal de Regadío Ambato-Huachi - Pelileo”, essential data to start the design of the hydraulic system. The hydraulic system to be implemented is by means of a pico-central of electricity generation based on a gravitational vortex, which generates a rotational movement and according to the input flow it is capable of driving the rotation of a vertical turbine, same as through a generator can be transformed into usable electricity for a home. The entire design is based on simulations and scale models, the simulation is by means of the free engineering software "Ansys Academic Student", both the tank and the turbine are modeled on a real scale to analyze the behavior of the fluid within it and observe the feasibility of formation of a gravitational vortex. The scale model starts from the data of the simulation carried out, but in this the main objective is to find the real efficiency of the energetic system with respect to the calculated theoretical power, thus it can be stated with great certainty the real power that the system will reach in its real size. Finally, the same plans of the structure designed with the corresponding measures and scales, appropriate to the place of implantation, are made, with price analysis and total budget of the hydraulic system.

    Repotenciación del sistema de agua potable de Ulba, cantón Baños de Agua Santa mediante el uso de energía alternativa

    The present project contains the design of an improvement option for the current drinking water system in the urban center of the Ulba Parish in the Baños de Agua Santa canton, increasing the available volumes and, above all, water quality. It is proposed: the catchment of watersheds known as Crystal Waters; Located on the left bank of the river Ulba downstream of its waterfall, two pipes with gravity one from the uptake to the existing low reserve tank of 200 m3, which has a chlorination system, to supply the low network of the current system ; And another that reaches the suction tank, for its pumping to the existing reserve in the treatment plant, which has a capacity of 200m3; And that serves the high net of Ulba. In order for the driving lines to cross the river Ulba, a suspended overpass is designed. The project proposes a pumping system with electric motors pumps, but also proposes the implementation of a non-traditional pumping system, which works by taking advantage of the hydroelectric power of the Chamana River by means of a turbo pump: Pelton turbine - piston pump; For the operation of this equipment there is a bottom uptake in the Chamana River, a desalinator and a subsequent conduction towards the pumping equipment: Turbine - pump. The financial analysis determines, due to the existing conditions in the field, that the option of non-traditional pumping, using alternative energy, contemplated in this project, is more convenient than a pumping with electric motors. For the realization of the design, the current regulations such as those of the SENAGUA Water Secretariat and the environmental norms that govern the TULSMA construction procedures were used.

    Estudio de un biodigestor generador de gas metano mediante abono orgánico para prácticas de energías alternativas en el laboratorio de la Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato

    El presente trabajo surge de la necesidad de realizar prácticas de energías alternativas en los laboratorios de la facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, a más de ello permite incrementar conocimientos en los estudiantes sobre los biodigestores generadores de gas metano que existen en el mercado para que el alumno al finalizar la carrera tenga conocimientos amplios sobre el tema y pueda desenvolverse sin complicación en su lugar de trabajo. En biodigestor generador de gas metano es una máquina que consta de sistemas principales de operación que son: la niquelina que es utilizada para calentar el abono orgánico, un manómetro y termómetro que nos permiten medir temperaturas y presiones establecidas. La capacidad operatividad del biodigestor del peso máximo de estiércol que contiene el biodigestor es de 50 litros. El intervalo que puede tener una temperatura de alcance del biodigestor con abono orgánico es de 60 a 100 °F. A demás como parte del trabajo se presenta una forma innovadora de generar gas metano por medio del estiércol del cerdo, trabajando de esta manera segura y continua. El diseño del biodigestor es ergonómico, su mantenimiento es relativamente sencillo, está construido con materiales que se encuentran en el mercado local. Su coste es de 893 dólares que en comparación a otros tipos de biodigestores es más económico (1500 dólares) presentando la ventaja de variar sus dimensiones y permanecer en una sola posición de trabajo; por lo tanto puede ser adquirida por pequeñas industrias.
